Wish someone could answer my questions! My yorkie is only 4 1/2 months old and already more than half of her black coat is turning bluish gray. Is this normal?? I have heard that they don't change color until they are around a year old. I've been questioning if she's even a Yorkie at all. To me she seems like a Silky terrier but the breeder says shes 100% yorkie. Maybe she lied about her age??

anyone know ? Could it be the food? I know that on top of the head the color changing is normal, but her whole body black hair is already bluish gray and not black anymore.

I could try to take some pics of her right now. I just dont know how to upload a pic onto this forum. Its actually a dark bluish grey, but u can see the difference in the roots. Its just weird that her black is already changing..unless shes not the age the lady told me she is. Last edited by yoyosmommy; 08-01-2008 at 11:00 PM.

I always called the Yorkies , the surprise dog because it is sometimes hard to tell what colors they'll be as adult . Some puppies will begin changing colors earlier than others .

Your baby's color changes look similar to my 13 week old baby. Her black is rapidly turning to silver on her body and the top of her head is so gray it almost looks like hair loss. I think she will be tan and light to medium grayblue when color change is done. Personally I don't care what color she is as I love her any way.

| No need to worry....that is 100% normal. No Yorkie starts changing color at one year. A lot of them continue to change for many years in fact. They say "Yorkies are like a box of chocolates" .... you never know what you are going to get. They had a poll on here once and hardly ANYONE could tell the Yorkies from the Silkies. It was a TOUGH poll and your question is a normal one.

That is normal.. I always think it is the ugly stage.. like children when they loose there front teeth or the feet are too darn big for their body to grow and catch up.. anne
