| Is there a pecking order? or ?? Sorry guys, I didn't know how to word the title. I'm curious if dogs bow down, so to speak to a Hiearchy? Murphy always walks to Alphy's left and usually back a step. Is there anything to that? Or just my being weird?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Apparently you're not familiar with the Dog Whisperer. Yes, there is a pecking order, dogs are pack animals, and there is a pack leader or alpha dog, he is usually your first dog. Cesar Milan recommends that the dog owner become the true leader of the pack in order to eliminate fighting and aggression. There are many methods to do this, but mostly its calm, assertive, not aggressive, by the way, behavior. No screaming, shouting, or hitting allowed. Dogs show respect to the pack leader, and feel safer when there is an established pack leader.

| I have heard of Dog Whisperer but have never watched it. Alphy is very submissive to Murphy or any dog when they play. He is very quiet and not assertive at all. Murphy is the outgoing one not afraid of anything (except the sound of velcro freaks him out). Alphy on the other hand is usually very cautious and stand offish of the uncertain. maybe I'll check out a few episodes of Dog Whisperer. Thanks.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Definately. Pixie is the alpha dog of the yorkies. She watches over them, gets them for meals and eats after they all have their food. She keeps them in line.

| I've noticed in our pack of 3 (it's just my husband, Wall-E and me!)- Wall-E regards my husband as the alpha. As soon as he snaps his fingers and says "NO" Wall-E will lay down on the floor and be perfectly still. When I say "no" Wall-E will pounce on me and wag his tail!!! I don't mind though. I'm a softie and Wall-E knows it! |
