Wink I have to share this....

Okay so.. I'm VERY allergic to dogs.. yes I am VERY.... Yorkies and chihuahua are the only dogs I have been around that i could cuddle with out issues. I have been so very happy with actually being able to snuggle my Leo with out any itchy welts! Well ummmm here goes the story. laugh.. I did lol

OKay so my sister had an operation done two weeks ago, I went down to see her the day after and had to leave my lil Leo at home. So when I returned I washed the make up off my face with a scrub (i hate the feel of make up and don't wear it much at all) and after doing so I picked leo up and he started kissing all over my face. I let him since he missed mommy so much. He licked me for a few minutes all happy then I put him down to get the car unpacked. My chin started feeling hot, like hmmm razor burn on your legs and it was red, I figured it was the scrub and went about my way. A few minutes later my chin and jaw are numb I go look and BOOM my enter chin, jaw and neck were swelling and VERY quickly. I ran to the med cab and I was out of Epi Pens.. CRAP!!! So I take benedryl and liquid steroids and the reaction slows, so I'm all good I think.l.. then it happens I feel my airway closing and I hit the ground. When I came to my neighbor (EMT) was standing over me, and she says "I slapped you with an Epi Pen out of the kit." Then I of course was soo drugged, she asked me what I did if I had been bitten by anything or if I was stung and I looked down at the floor and said "My yorkie licked my face when I came home"...... Yes laugh it was funny as all get out..... Down and out because of a puppy lick! So then I"m told that when someone is allergic to pet dander they can be allergic to saliva and urine. So he can lick me,but we have to stop after about four. ... had to share this with you all it was funny as could be.. and I have Epi Pens now, after calling Dr she made sure I had Epi Pens at all times. Even gave me an Epi Pen Jr,which is small and cute ha ha

Thought you all would enjoy a good laugh.

OMG Im glad youre ok now!

My friend actually has the same thing. He has a shi tzu and he is not allergic to him BUT he is allergic to Chewy's saliva... The problem is.. Chewy LOVESSSSSSSSS him and whenever he is over she insists on licking his entire face and ears, etc. He gets blotchy but I think now I wont let her do it.

Thanks for the warning about the dangers.. I didnt know it could be this serious.

Well, at least you are allowed 4 puppy kisses, that's better than none. Glad you are okay. Sounds like a pretty close call. Joanne

I am so sorry that you had the scare. I did not know that a person could have such an allergic reaction to a puppy kiss. However, it makes sense . I am glad you are ok and safe. epi pens are lifesavers.

First, glad you're ok! Second, I NEVER knew that either. Indirectly thru your experience some of us are learning a lot!

thank you ladies.. rest assure i was okay and when I came to I was laughing VERY hard. I took my daughter ot the dr today and even they laughed when I came in. It's now a huge joke. Sadly yes, allergic to puppy kisses and everything else under the sun.. BUT I won't complain.. just like many other things I"m allergic to.... I always say I HAVE BENEDRYL!!! and enjoy them anyway. hehehe
On a more serious note, that is the reason for the post... because many of us have family that are allergic to dogs... i don't think his kisses hurt at all until I scrub my face and wash with hot water that allowed the pores to be open for his lil kisses to sink in... hehe
