| Is my Yorkie Pregnant My yorkie recently went into heat for her first time about a month ago. About 3 weeks ago she ran away (first time she ever wandered). We found her in the morning (10 hours later) down the road by a house who also has yorkies. Now yesterday I noticed all of her nipples have quarter sized lumps underneath them. She also seems to be much more calm and tired than she usually is. Could she be pregnant? |

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | its hard to say.....unless someone witness her tied with a male..it could also be false pregnancy...just watch her... its its been 3 weeks i would wait another 3-4 weeks and take her to a vet to confirm pregnancy... i hope she isnt because she is rather too young...being that this is her 1st heat...good luck! btw welcome to YT..can't want to see pictures of your baby girl!

| It is just so scary. I have never had a dog that has been in heat. We planned to fix her after her first heat. What would be the danger for her to be pregnant with her first heat? |

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | depending on how big of a male got to her...who knows if it was even a yorkie...the baby could be to big to pass....and it things go wrong you could lose not only the puppies but your precious little girl. and if the male was a larger dog - she will need a c-section....the only way to tell if she will need one is by xray when she is around 55 days into her pregnancy. the vet can measure the skull of the puppies if there are any..and then her opening...to see if she could pass the puppy thru also being that she is still young...she may not be a good mother...and since she and the other dog was not test...the puppies could be born with problems like live stunt, bads knees...the list goes on... if you don't mind me asking...why were you going to wait until after her first heat....most vet recommend getting them spayed/neutered at around 6 months...or before they go into heat so false pregnancy wouldn't occur.

| I see. Well thank you so much for the information. We will be sure to be on top of this in the coming weeks. I believe we were waiting for first heat due to being unsure of her date of birth. Like I said, we have never ran into this issue before. Kind of new to all of this! |

| Take her to the vet. You will know for sure if she is. They can exray her tummy and actually see the babies inside. If your female is far enough along.
