Administrator | 2009 International YorkieTalk Meetup [Alexandria, VA] Hello, we want to move forward and work on the 2009 International YorkieTalk Meetup, which will be in Alexandria, VA. We have not yet set a date. It most likely would be sometime between between June and August. We would like to thank the committee that ran and organized the 2008 Meetup, especially Sukoshi's Mom, as she did the majority of the work and orgranized a great event for YorkieTalk members who attended. We have heard nothing but praise for Sukoshi's Mom and the rest of the meetup committee. We in no way want to take away from their accomplishment and their hard work. We apologize to them if any feelings were hurt, as they certainly should not be attacked for any reason. Sukoshi's Mom did an amazing job and helped raise a lot of money for the Oklahoma Yorkie Rescue group. The current YorkieTalk Meetup Team is focused on creating the best event that we can, we realize that this event is for you, our YorkieTalk members, and our focus will be on making this a fun and enjoyable event for all that attend. We do know that the economy has been rough in the US as of late, so we are looking to try to make this event economical and affordable. The 2009 YorkieTalk Meetup is not being organized as an event to make money for YorkieTalk. YorkieTalk has raffles for fundraising (for YorkieTalk yearly costs), accepts donations from members, and has some advertising, which pays for the costs of YorkieTalk. This event, as it was last year, was created for YOU, the YorkieTalk member. YorkieTalk will not profit at all from this event, if there is excess money, it will either be donated to a charity that involves Yorkies or it will be applied towards future YorkieTalk Meetups. That said, YorkieTalk would like to at least break-even with this event, as in, we hope we will not be losing money by having this meetup. But if we do end up losing money on this meetup, we will accept it and deal with it. We believe the fees for the 2008 Meetup were reasonable ($139 per night for the hotel room with a $50 nonrefundable deposit for the pet fee, $70-100 registration fee to attend with dinner, $50 fee for vendor tables) and we will be using that as a guide when we search out a hotel for our event. If you have any feedback on this, please let us know. If any former committee members want to give any input, advice, or feedback, either publicly or privately, we would welcome it with open arms, as your experience is invaluable. They would be most welcome to the come to the 2009 Meetup as well, as the group has many friends and is loved by many here. We also welcome any and all input from all YorkieTalk members, each suggestion and idea will be taken seriously by the YT Meetup Team. As we have come to know, some of the best ideas come from our members, and we appreciate each suggestion and idea that is given. For 2010, the YorkieTalk Meetup is scheduled to be on the West Coast. We have yet to determine a city for that meetup. The next meetup, in 2011, will be in the Midwest, or the middle of America. Since we already have the 2009 Meetup city, Alexandria, Virginia, our first order of business will be to determine a date and find a hotel for the event. We will post publicly as soon as we have further details. We will try to post details as they are decided among the YorkieTalk Meetup Team. Here is our YT Meetup Team (in alphabetical order): chattiesmom erino77 Gingergirlsmom Rebelbelle Overseeing the Meetup Team will be simonandhallie. The Meetup Team was chosen from YT members who volunteered and we selected the Team which we thought could best help run and organize this event. We look forwarding to creating a great 2009 YT Meetup for all of you! Last edited by admin; 07-21-2008 at 09:27 AM. |

Alexandria, Virginia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia --- So the airport codes are DCA, IAD, and BWI. It looks like downtown Alexandria is 8 miles from Reagan National Airport (DCA) and 25 miles from Dulles International Airport (IAD)... | |
