Default Tragic News

Keelyn was hit by a car yesterday and was killed instantly...outside of some pretty graphic and traumatizing things I witnessed, it was pretty instant.

As you can expect and understand I am devastated. After a night of no sleep and endless tears, my mom and I came to a conclusion that another puppy might help me get through this transition.

I have gotten another yorkie..through cycles of sobbing and lethargy, the grieving process is going slow...but going non-the-less.

Mya is the new girls name, and as she could NEVER replace Keelyn and is not meant to...she is sweet and will become my best friend one day like Keelyn was.

I don't know how to cope. Everytime i picture that little face i start bawling. Mya is so great but I can't get over Keelyn. She was just a puppy my poor baby, i wish i could erase the horrible images I had to see and feel while i was carrying her to help.

I hope i didn't upset anyone, I just know you can form as a great support system. I need help coping I can't stop crying even with this new beautiful girl in my life. They are so different in EVERY way and I just keep comparing to Keelyn. What do i Do

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Nothing will replace her, and only time will weaken your pain but it will never go away.
Mya will make things harder, seeing you have had little time to grieve for Keelyn.… but for Mya's sake you must try to give her the attention she needs.
Please know you are in our prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss. Yorkies do indeed steal your heart. We lost our Tasha a couple of weeks ago after having her for almost 5 years. I must have cried on and off for 4 days....and I'm a 54 year old man. We did the same thing you did....got a new puppy. She will never be Tasha or is she intended to be. It does help to have Trudy around, though, to deal with the grief. I am sure that, like Tasha, she will be my companion and protector (in her mind, anyway). She will have all of the Yorkie character plus her own little personality quirks that make her unique and special. She is sitting in my lap attacking her chewbone as I type.

First my heart goes out to you and huge hug is sent your way.

I know the devastation you feel right now. I lost my beloved Jack Russell "Junior" last October. I can assure you time does heal and having a new puppy does help relieve some of the grief. I had my sweet Mikey, my new Jack Russell within 3 weeks after Junior died and it was hard at first not to see Junior in everything he did, but with time Mikey has stolen my heart equally as deeply as Junior did. Let the tears flow freely, time will eventually allow you to remember in fondness instead of sorrow.

I am so so sorry for you..what an awful thing to happen and have to witness..these accidents can happen in a heartbeat however vigilant you think you are..it just makes you realise how quickly they can happen and makes me all the more paranoid when I hear of these things happening...I'm not criticizing you in away..but..wow..you got another puppy the very next day? this worries me a little..you need time to get over the shock of this awful incident..where did you find your new baby? was she from the same breeder?
After losing my 14 year old yorkie last year it was 4 months until i got my pixie..I do agree that another baby does take your mind off the tragic events..but you need the time to grieve and heal before devoting your time to another baby. I wish you the goodluck with your new little one and I hope your heart will mend as quickly as possible...kind regards, kerry.

That is horrible! I am sorry you had to see her go that way! I hope she didn't suffer and that it was indeed instant.

I hope that your new baby girl is able to help comfort you.

So sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how hard that must have been to see. I hope you find peace with your new puppy. Time will help. Hugs from Zoeybear and Baby Chloe.

First, let me say how very sorry I am for your loss. I recently lost my Lilly and am still grieving for her. I wish you only the best in your future with your new baby.

Secondly, please do not take offense but I have to question how she was hit by a car in the first place? Yorkies are so tiny that one has to watch closely even in the house. Was she not on leash, in a fenced area or being carried? Tragedies such as these can be avoided with extra vigilance on our part. Please guard your new baby more closely, they are so tiny and precious and they depend entirely on us for their well being.

It all happened so fast we were outside in our normal spot going potty, it was a quick in and out visit so I could get back to doing my work, and she was sniffing around and there are 2 different patches of grass we went to, and she went to start going to the other one infront of us and darted out and some jerk speeding around the corner hit her and she like went under both tires, he kept driving as i was frantically carrying her the other direction, projectile bleeding out of her mouth and siezuring. It was the most horrifying thing seeing happen to my baby. I think her soul was gone already when all that was happening but it was still the most awful thing that I have to live with reliving in my head.

Mya is very loved and is already used to her harness and crate. She is completely different than Keelyn was (looks and personality) she has the thick silky coat vs Keelyn's more wavy thin coat, and a lot less rambunctious (sp?) I cant decided if it's a good or bad thing that they are so different because Keelyn is still in my heart and I just want to see that little face again but i promise, I am giving Mya all the love and more I ever gave Keelyn.

Thank you everyone hopefully this pain will move quickly through me.

I am so sorry for your loss of Keelyn, my heart and prayers go out to you. As for the new pup, I think it's different for everyone as for the amount of time they give themselves before they get a new furkid. When we had to help our Appollo to heaven, I waited 3 months. For 3 months I grieved so hard, tears everyday, but finally, not hearing the pitter patter of a furkids paws on our floors just drove me nuts. I'm an animal lover through and through and as long as I live and am able to care for a furkid, I know we'll have them. When we finally got another furkid, at first I felt guilty, like I was being unfaithful to Appollo, then one day the peace finally set in and I was able to give my heart to this new furkid. I knew the love we gave Appollo was special and he adored us, he wouldn't have wanted us to deprive another furkid of that kind of love. I came to love Isaiah, but not as a replacement for Apollo, just as another angel that God blessed us with and sent into our lives to help our hearts heal and love again. Keelyn wouldn't want you to deprive a furkid of the special love you gave to her, she'd want you to give that love freely and make this new furkid feel as special and loved as you made her feel. It's gonna take time, but it is ok to love another furkid again.
