| Suckers! Does anyone else have a dog that likes to suck? Layla has been sucking on the corners of pillows for as long as I've had her. Everyone else always thought it was weird. I just finally did some research into it, and it turns out my dog ISN'T weird!!! YAY! Apparently it's common, and it's done for comfort just like a kid sucking their thumb. And most dogs do not grow out of it. It's always a pillow or cushion that smells like me... the cushions on the couch or the pillows on my bed. Even when she gets excited she runs right to my bed and latches on to the corner of my pillow until she calms down. When we go to sleep at night, she'll start sucking on the corner and her little paws are up there too, kneading away at the pillow until she falls asleep.

| Awww sounds adorable!! When Chewy gets excited she grabs a stuffed toy in her mouth and paces the room.. I guess its also like a sucking motion but she walks around with it. |

| Sam doesnt necessarily "suck" on anything but he does bite down on something. Here are some pics with his ba ba http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...his-ba-ba.html He still does it, when he goes to sleep - he has to bite down on his ba ba

| I just got some pictures of Layla doing it 1. Top view! 2. From the side 3. Caught in the act! She realized just as I was hitting the button 4. Mortified that I would betray her privacy and post these pictures on YT

| I tried unsuccessfully to move Layla's attention to a toy but she just won't go for it. It has to be something that I lay on. I've even tried giving her old pillows of mine but she still wants to suck on the new ones, where I lay my head every night.

| Oh my gosh yes! Skeeter latches on to my thumb or finger if comes anywhere near his mouth when I'm petting him. He used to suck on it but now he just holds it in his mouth and drifts off to sleep. |

| Suzi has done that on pillows too. I know cats are notrious for this behavior. I was told that they do that when they are weaned too early. it is a natural instinct for them to suck as babies.

| Baby Chloe does it. She loves to suck on tags. Tags on blankets or on the neck of a shirt. Her favorites are her crackle jax (which we call her suckie) it is all dilapidated from being sucked and the silky tag on her receiving blanket that came from her mommy.

| I'm so happy to read this! I've worried a little about my boy. Bernie has done that since we brought him home at 1 y.o. He will drag a pillow or dog bed into the room we are in, get in in position, and suck away. I'll try to get a pic to share later. We used to feel bad, like he must be sad or something, but now it just seems normal for him.
