| Hair loss Daisy has lost so much fur on her front legs and chest. She has very soft hair growing back. Is this normal, is she just losing her puppy coat? |

| With our first Yorkie I also thought she was going bald. So I called the breeder, who was very helpful and she told me that this is normal. She is losing her puppy coat. |

| Your puppy is just loosing the puppy fuzz. The new coat is coming in. Will take a while and he may look terrible- don't be alarmed during the growing stage- you just have to wait it out. The end result will be well worth it. |

| Thank you for the info as I was worried. I can see some short soft hair growing in but for some reason I though yorkies did not shed their puppy coats (that it just grew out). So glad to know that this is normal. Thanks |

| I remember thinking the same thing about Luigi at one point. But someone told me it was him losing the puppy hair and getting his more silky adult coat!!!! I wouldn't worry too much!!!!

Some folks still state that puppies do not loose their puppy coat. But it has been my experience that more loose that thick baby coat then those that do not. The worst is yet to come- your baby may look like the ugly duckling for a while but you will see a swan in the end. My Reggie is just over that period and his coat is coming back in- sometimes you just want to cry and then you learn to laugh at how he is slowly changing. | |
