Camera Puppy Ears

OK, got a question. I have 2 six week old puppies that were my females puppies. For as long as I remmember their ears have been straight up. I am now puppy sitting for a friend of mine who has a beautiful 12 week old female. I noticed that she has floppy ears. Is this normal? I attached a photo of my 6 week old pups and the 12 week old.

Oh they are all so precious! From my understanding, their ears should be shaved on the top 3rd (just enough where they fold down) to take the weight off of them.

Hot Rod's ears finally stood up at 8 mos. But he was and is still teething (I think) at 10 1/2 mos. I kept his ears shaved completely from 5 mos on. Now his hair has grown back pretty much.

As far as I know it depends on the ear leather, some seem to be thicker and hence weigh more and teething plays a part.. I have had babies that are standing up at 5 weeks and other times not.. same parents.. so go figure that one.. I have an 8 week old now and am taping her ears..anne

Oh my, what cute babies... all of them. Makes me want more!!

Shaving the top 1/3 of the ears can help and taping them as well. It isn't abnormal for ears that were standing to flop around while teething

I noticed when Katie was small and teething or sometimes tired, her ears flopped, but came up again in a few days.

yes shaving the upper par tof the ear in a v pattern helps but sometimes when the ears are slightly bigger then they don't go up until they are cutting their permanent teeth.
Shaving the ears and taping them up helps.
My pups are 8 weeks old and 4 of my pups the ears were laying down I taped them up for just 24 hours and all but one of the pups now have their ears up. I have noted that when they are cutting teeth they can droop. Keeping alot of hair off of them help them stand up.

Sapphire's ears never stood up. You can have them taped, but I think the floppy ears are cute!!

Thumbs up Floppy ears!

When I first saw my baby at my breeder's at 10 weeks old, her ears were straight up! Yesterday I brought her home and I noticed her ears had flopped a bit. Sometimes one ear will stand up and the other will flop down. Is this normal for them to be straight, then flop? Or one flop and one straight? Just wondering! Thanks

How exactly should ears be taped? What tape should I use? Puppies are 8 weeks old with no sign of ears standing on there own.

Smile ears

My baby's ears were flopping, but I read to cut 1/3 of the top of their ear hair to help make them stand. I did that, and now they are standing straight up! So that worked for me

My Daxter's ears are floppy. Sometimes one up one down depending on his mood. I think it's "normal" for my baby's ears to be floppy. That's one of his traits that make him so adorable to me!
