Donating YT 11K Club Member | To the dog clothes & bows sellers... I'm really not sure where to put this...i thought about products for sale but there's nothing for sale here lol I was just curious though, there are many wonderful people here that make and sell their own dog clothes, dresses and bows, etc. I was wondering do you make a good profit off of selling clothes? I know it can get expensive buying the materials you need to make them, so how well do you do off of them? Do you have another job or is that solely your business? Thanks!

| I definitely haven't turned a profit yet in my first 2 years. I am still paying for materials, advertising, marketing, equipment, ect. It isn't my sole means of supporting myself by any means, but that's ok because I know it can take time for a business to become profitable, especially a small one. I just keep plugging away at it, knowing one day it will all pay off! Not sure if that answered the question, but I hope it helps |

| I would say that I've made a minimal profit only because I'm basically putting 100% of my profits back into my business to fund new equipment, advertising, products, ect. Like, when I find a fabric I like, I have to buy yards of it at a time to make sure I have enough for a product that will be around for some time so that can add up. Also when I started I bought an expensive sewing machine so when you total up all the expense that I've incurred to get going plus the fact that I am trying to still build the business so I'm rolling all my would be profits back into the business, I'm not really turning a noticeable profit at this point. There are many factors like continuing good website design and functionality which comes at a price, paying for advertising space to market your business site, packaging, ect. If you could find a way to just sell items w/o any of that kind of overhead I think there would be a good profit more quickly. However I am in it more for the long term and knew it would be a struggle to begin a small, home based start up without any real business sense so I am learning all by experience only so my growth and profits are much smaller than they would be had I gone in with knowing exactly how I would do it all . |
