| My 8 months old does not want to play I have had lola for 1 month so far, but she does not like to play with toys. She acts rather sad around the house and does not like to play with other dogs. This is my first yorkie but since she is only 8 months, she should be a happy, playful puppy. Please give me advise. Is this normal? |

| What kinds of toys have you tried so far? I cant get my 5 year old doxie to play with ANYTHING, but when I get the ball out, he goes nuts. And triss, my yorkie pup, likes anything that squeaks. Does she like treats? Maybe if she gets excited over a treat, you could start teaching tricks. Does she like walking on a leash? Try to find some kind of stimulation that she enjoys, and go from there.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have one that doesn't care for toys too much. Also when Roxie went into heat at 8 months she lost interest in playing and liked to be by herself a lot. She is just now getting back to normal. Has she bee spayed yet or could she be coming into heat? Just give her a little time she may be missing her previous home.

| I have tried the squeaky toys and balls, but she is not interested. The only thing that actually excites her is going for a run in our hallway. She loves to just run like a silly girl up and down the hallways outside our apartment. I just feel bad that she is not playful and enjoying all of her great toys... I feel like a bad mom... lol I guess I should put on my running shoes and just run silly with her...lol.. |

| Patti, I have been fearing that may be coming into heat - i hope not. We have the appointment with the vet for spaying on friday. I was trying to wait until she became used to our house before putting her through surgery. My poor baby, she is now all curled up on my chest while I watch TV and type. Maybe I'l go to the vet tomorrow. Would he know if she is in heat? |

| I think you can check if theyre going in heat. If her nips feel swollen or her girl parts look swollen, that could be a sign.

Yes do. If that is what she likes, I would do it with her. Will she chase a ball down the hall? You could try that. Maybe she just needs to get out and get some exercise. Good luck.
