| Akc Lost And Found Option. DOES ANYONE THINK THAT THE LOST AND FOUND OPTION THAT THE AKC REGISTRATION PACKAGE INCLUDES IS WORTH WHILE? I am getting ready to mail in my papers for IZ and was wondering if this was worth investing in. I figured if your dog doesnt have a microchip your pretty much not hardly gonna find it anyways. Cause no one will give up a cute lil yorkie if they found it. Plus they could always remove the little akc tag that they will send u in the mail, right? so...has anyone else invested in this and did you think it was worth it? |

well,, i know its worth peace of mind ,, if something happens and an HONEST person finds your dog,, all 4 of my girls have and wear their CAR (Companion Animal Recovery) tags,, which is the Lost and Found option in your registration,, thankfully we've not needed it,, but it gives some peace of mind as does their microchip

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | This was an extra precaution that I took, but mainly because I think the AKC is the only registry that is actually trying to do something about the puppy mill situation. It is the only registry that does unannounced routine kennel inspections, and requires DNA testing. I believe in what it's trying to do, and I believe it takes our support through money contributions to do these things. So I always encourage people to register their dogs if they are eligible, and if you can afford to contribute to the other programs, I think the lifetime lost and found listing is a good one. We registered Joey's microchip number.

| hmm...maybe I should invest in that then. I havent gotten Izzy microchipped. I want to but I have to find out more about it and the prices and stuff. If I get her microchipped I would have to re-register her with the AKC if I send it in before I do it. |

once you microchip or move or change phone numbers,, anything like that for your personal contact info,, you can make changes with AKC online,, adding your microchip # and the same with your microchip company, ,you easily change your contact information when needed

| interesting. Does that mean that I can go ahead and send my akc papers in even if I end up microchipping her in a couple weeks or month or so? I can still easily send in the info. |

| I invested in it just because it is THAT much more piece of mind for me. I have my guys microchipped as well. You just never know. Sometimes there are honest people out there who will call. And obviously there are those who won't. I think it was a good choice to invest in though. A microchip is WAY better though if you decide to do it!
