Trauma! Oh no! I let my neighbors take Archie to the park in the snow (he had a sweatshirt and jacket on) and 15 minutes later, they were knocking on the door and my neighbor was holding Archie who looked shocked and frozen! There were icicles stuck on the hair on his feet and he was shaking. When I picked him up, he was so cold. I immediately took his clothes off and ran a warm bath for him and melted the icicles off his body. While I got a towel, he jumped out of the tub and ran into a little corner and sat there with this frozen look on him, shaking. I dried him off as best I could and he ran onto my bed, pulled the covers back and curled up against the pillow. I gave him some Nutrical to make sure that he's got some energy and his blood sugar hasn't dropped too low. I just called my boyfriend (who is at work) to tell him and he said that I have to keep an eye on him because he could get pneumonia. Poor Archie! He's traumatized! I don't understand it...yesterday, he was having a great time in the snow, and today, he was completely frozen even though he had more clothes on. Maybe he got stuck in a snow bank and panicked...He's sleeping in the spare bedroom right now and I'd say he'll be there for a while.

Oh no!! Poor Archie...Did you call your vet to see what advise they had too? It sounds like you did all great things by keeping him warm, nutrical and everything, oh bless your heart you must be so worried. Maybe Archie has had enough snow play for awhile and tell him spring will be here soon!! Plenty of sunshine and warmth for him to bask in. Keep us posted on his condition and hugs to Archie!!

Yes, the little guys can get cold pretty fast. Yoda was fine for about 30 minutes when we went up to the mountains, but when he got into the powder snow, it affected his body quickly and he wanted warmth and had to be held with the heat blasting in the car after that. Just make sure he's warm today and eats some food for his tummy and drinks plenty of water.

Thanks everyone. I didn't call the vet, but it's really Archie's first really really cold experience. He's been a little depressed the whole day and he won't really follow me around like he always does. He was happy for a little while when my neighbor's dog came over to check up on him, but he's not eating too much either. I have to remember that he had a traumatizing thing happen to him today and it's not about me! Also, I haven't taken him out since so he does need to be walked but my boyfriend is coming home in a few minutes and told me that he would rather walk Archie today. For some reason, Archie does better with him when they go outside together because he takes Archie to the dog run, the park, everywhere. Plus, he used to have a yorkie when he was a kid so he sometimes knows Archie's needs better than I do.

I'm so sorry for Archie. He was probably just as traumatized as Gidget. Bad day for our little yorkies today. I worry about the cold and snow also being in Ohio
