| Yorkies good with cats? I read on a few sites that its not a good idea to leave a yorkie or terrier in general around a cat and I was wondering if there's anyone here that owns a cat as well as a yorkie and do they get along? I have two 2 year old cats and I don't want any problems =[. |

| Welcome to YT! I had 2 Siamese cats when I brought my 2 yorkies home. My male Siamese, who has since passed was so easy going and would often be found sleeping with my yorkies. My female Siamese is sometimes jealous of the dogs, but really everyone gets along. Here's a picture of my yorkies during a gift exchange (something fun we do on YT 4-times a yr) - I was showing pictures of Roxy's gifts and my 16 year old female Siamese decided she had to be a part of the show

| Depends on what you mean by "good with cats". Mine keeps our cat treed in the closet most of the time. She does get a little help from one of my wife's Maltese. |

| Lol by good i mean the yorkie won't use my cats as chew toys xD. Yorkiesmiles, your yorkies and your siamese cat are so cute and i'm sorry about your male cat . Both of my cats are girls and one is sort of mean and the other is nice most of the time. I think the nice one would get along with a dog but the other might try to claw it's eyes out x_x; |

| Well, it sounds like your cats could fend off the yorkies. If your cats have all their claws you would have to watch for any rough play early on. I have heard of cats damaging a dogs eye before. But for the most part I have found that different animals learn to respect each others space for the most part. But once in awhile I do see my Siamese get ready to pounce on a yorkie - never the other way around.

| I have four cats ranging in age from 3 yrs to 16 years. They all get along well with the Yorkies as long as they have their escape route if play gets too rough! My Yorkie girls love to play with the kitties. The boy kitties don't mind so much. The girl kitties give them that look and the continue their naps high up somewhere!

| My cousins' cat Maggie rules the roost at her house. She has 3 rat terrier brother and sisters and they are all terrified of her. They will literally run the other direction if they see Maggie. On the other hand, Bella will run up to Maggie and keep patting at her until Maggie either slaps her away or nips at her. The first time it happened I about had a heart attack, but Bella waas fine. She waited a few hours and then went back for seconds and nipped at Maggie's tail. Maggie just gave Bella a look of "hullo, I will hurt you". But they just kinda co-exist. But Maggie is a super great Calico cat. She's more like a dog in some ways. Bella has picked up the way Maggie bats at things with her pawas and she acts like a cat now. So I say it just depends on the dog and the cat. |

| I have two older (cranky) cats and they all get along great! They just jump up on the couch or the bed if they don't want to deal with Lucy but she loves them, always licking their foreheads so they are in heaven

| I have a little 8 month old yorkie named Token. It is safe for me to say that his favorite thing to do is chase around my boyfriend's 11 year old cat, Rascal. Rascal and Token do NOT get along, but maybe that is because Token tortures Rascal. I dunno. |

| I have a 9 1/2 year old female cat and a 17 wk old male yorkie... it has taken some getting used to. Buffalo (yorkie) gets hyper sometimes and runs around and Tigerlilly (cat) watches crouched under the desk and if he gets too close she will chase after him. but they have been getting along, tigerlilly never uses her claws on him and only bites softly to show she is the boss. I would say overall they are growing on eachother. Tigerlilly even lets Buff clean her on occasion... he loves her ears lol. Buffalo and Tigerlilly Buffalo Tigerlilly

| Hah! If it weren't for Rocky poor Rambeau would have no one to play with. They love to wrestle and box. There is a great video of them on Michael Ayers' Digital Images- powered by SmugMug under Rambeau. Which reminds me, I have a question about breeders, puppy mills back yard breeder but I am going to post it under "playmate for Rambeau". My extremely senior persian female has no time for him, even though he tackles her every chance he gets. She (17 years old) hates him!!! Melissa and Rambeau (I love the fluffy kitty, she's soft to land on!) |
