| Is it bad I decided not to crop my puppy's tail I was asked to crop or not to crop and decided not to. Is this a bad thing? Now I'm worried I did something wrong. |

| Carsons tail isn't cropped and he is fine I think they are cuter that way I think cropping tails is banned in the UK?? So you did nothing wrong Some do it for the look and I think it's supposed to help some with hygiene and possible injury to the tail later on but it's just like any other dog without a cropped tail.

| tail Nothing wrong in leaving the tail long...if you were selling puppies, then it would be a problem at times... |

| It's a personal preference thing. I wouldn't buy from a breeder who refuses to dock tails but I would buy from someone who lets the owner decide. I like the docked look better and it is part of the Yorkie standard in the US but some like them long.

| That is good to hear, I for one do not agree with cropping the tails of Yorkie's or any dog for that matter, to me is mutilation, your baby is going to look wonderful with a full tail I have four yorkies with full tails and two with crop tails. Remember this God gave them a tail for a reason. |

| I don't see how if she is planning to sell the pups it would be a problem with docking the tails, most people sell their pups as pets not for breeding. If their not going to put their new pup in a show, if the person looking to buy isn't a show hopefull then why mutilate the baby? Ask if they plan to show explain to the buyer cutting off the tail of a yorkie or any animal is really animal cruelty and mutilation and that it is banned in UK, ask them if they would like for someone to cut off one of their legs or arms??? Arms are used not only to get us the thing we need but it's part of how we balance ourselves, the dogs tail acts in the same way our arms do if we were on a tight rope or doing some type of gymnastics etc the tail is a dogs balance. |

| thank you for all your responses, I am getting this little boy free of charge. Unfortch he is a product of inbreeding (the son inpregnanted the mother so I am taking him in as a rescue pup) so I am just paranoid to do anything that would not be good for him since he is at risk for health problems. On the plus he is a healthy little guy so far and the mom is taking such good care of him but like I said I don't want to do anything that might jeopardize his health since he possibly has the odds stacked against him. |

| Given the choice, I wouldn't have my baby's tail cropped. However, it was already done way before I got him! |

Tails are docked when puppy is 3 days old. There aren't many people selling or purchasing a puppy at that age. Until the AKC standard of docked tails is changed...in order to show the tails will require docking.

| tails There are SOME people who want a docked tail, like myself and would not buy one with a tail..BUT only SOME people..AND I think more and more people are open to a full tail as opposed to a few years ago. |

| If you want to see what a yorkie looks like with a tail I have three videos posted of the babies they have full tails, the titles to those videos are "my little warrior princess nyla" "babies first blow dry after bath" "does anybody else have a cry baby" |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | After seeing the long tails on the Biewers I think the tails are awesome. As a breeder I will crop Yorkies as it is standard but I think the tails are fine for pet yorkies.

| Our vet does not dock tails at all - unless deemed medically necessary. Punkin is docked, but she was 8 months old when we got her. I often wish it was long. |
