| Breaking my Heart I have two females that have whelped within three weeks of each other. My one female's (Itzi) litter all died, there were 3. Itzi had them to soon whelped on her 57th day, the pups were so small 1 ounce to 1/2 ounce in size. We had one survive for almost three weeks. Well right after that Blossom whelped her one pup. Now Itzi cries for Blossom's pup. I keep Blossom seperated from her ( I keep her and the pup in my bedroom) but she still knows that pup is in there. I try to give Itzi most of all my attention to help ease her pain, but I have six other yorkies and they require me as well. Blossom's pup is 2 and half weeks old now and this is still going on. Does anyone have any suggestions what I can do for a morning mom? I feel so bad for her and it is breaking my heart. I have never had a mom lose all her pups, so this is new to me and have no clue what else I can do for Itzi.

| How horrible for Itzi! I'm not a breeder, but what do you think would happen if you let her nuzzle the little puppy? Would the other mommy get upset?

| Oh, how heartbreaking! Poor little Itzi (and you!). Is your new puppy just a newborn then? If it isn't, I'd let Itzi see the baby if she were mine. Have you shown her the puppy? I definetly would. The smell of it will drive her crazy if you don't let her know what is going on. |

| There is not much you can do for her. My Charlotte's girls are 9 weeks and she is done with them, except to oversee what is going on...so Clemmie is the nanny. Clemmie spends much of the day playing with them , licking their faces and allowing them to sleep with her..perhaps Itzy can be a nanny in a few weeks. |

| Oh, that is sad. I'm certainly not an expert but I would still let her see the puppy as long as it's mommy was ok with it

| Breaking my Heart Itzi slipped passed me a couple of days ago when I was letting Blossom outside to do her business, and I didn't know it.(Itzi was with the pup about 15 minutes) When Blossom and I came back in we found Itzi in with the pup. Blossom had a fit. I got Itzi out of the situation, and she still lays by my bedroom door and cries. So her getting to be by the pup didn't help. I appreciate those suggestions though.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Oh, that is so sad. Poor girl, she doesn't realize her pups are gone. She just knows that a puppy is THERE and she's sure it's hers. I feel so bad for her. I think it's best to keep them seperate simply because I've seen some mother dogs get almost viscious protecting pups and that's how Blossom probably views things. Trace was a litter of one. His breeder told me that even a month after he was gone, his mother was still looking for him. So she brought her over for a visit and guess what, she wouldn't have anything to do with him, growled even. My daughter said it was because he now smelled like cats (we have 3).
