| Florida Pet Shop on news The south Florida pet shop I mentioned in another thread was 'Dixie Pets' in Broward Co. They had a news story about it last night. The pups are sick and dying from Parvo. The owner blamed the South American breeders she buys her pups from...and said she had a new supplier. They showed several dead and dying Yorkies. Owners had taken photo's for small claims court. What they failed to mention is parvo can not be rid so easily in the environment. Most vets recommend waiting several months before bringing in a new pup where parvo has been a problem. One woman bought 3 pups before she decided Dixie Pets might not be the place to buy a pet!!! Duh!! All 3 Yorkies died right after getting them. Last edited by YorkieRose; 08-03-2005 at 04:07 AM. |

| I don't know how any person could stand by and watch puppy after puppy die. In some people I think money takes over and that is all they care about. How sad!!! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Unfortunately this is common in Pet Stores - many many puppies are bought already sick with disease... or the trip in the truck just about kills them... by the time they reach the Pet Stores - they are VERY stressed - and get POOR medical treatment if any - it's a terrible business. |

| After hearing this story I'm reminded of the saying: Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I think in this case, an appropriate ending would be: Fool me three times, I'm a moron. That's lovely that she's bringing a new batch of dogs into a parvo-ridden store. Good thinking. |

| This shop aevertizes every week in the paper..the ad never changes...Best in Town, 3 pound sire and 4 pound dam, week after week...that is alot of pups for one set of parents! LOL There is a pizza place next to Puppy Palace. I have been to the pizza place three times since I moved to Florida..I am not exaggerating, the pet shop is always full of people. You have to stand at the door and wait for a few to leave so you can go in...or you stand shoulder to shoulder and can barely wealk. People are buying as fast as they can get these pups in. They charge a fee for the micro chip, shots, worming and vet check that has been given before the purchase. So the first price you see look failry reasonable. |

A lot of vets recomend to wait even "years" before bringing a new pet into the enviroment where a sick dog has been. The virus is very good at surviving...just imagine really young pups without shots? And about that lady...sad part is, there is a looot of clueless people out there, hopefully little by little we can make a difference and alert others.

There are so many great breeders on YT that would help you. YorkieRose lives in Fl. now and is a great breeder and person. She is just one of many. I'm sorry that you didn't find YT earlier. I commend you for sharing your awful experience and warning all about this broker. Jessica | |

| What is wrong with people now a days??? Why in the world are they like this? I feel so bad for the pups most of all and for the people who buy these not knowing they are sick. |
