| Gizmo's Ears Falling Hello, My yorkie is now 5mths old, and his hair on his ears got a little long. Because of this his right ear started to fall. He never had this before and I am not sure if I am supposed to tape it or if its hopeless. Sometimes the ear flops down sometimes its up, but it had previously always been up. Finally i cut his hair today and I figured that his ear would pop back up to normal, but it hasn't changed what should I do?! have i ruined his ears? will it ever stay up all the time again? I attached his pictures so that you guys can see before and after, thanks so much! please give me any advice you may have. if i should tape them plz advise me as how to do so as i have no clue where to even begin... |

| Thats good to know. My Trouble is 6 months old and his ears are doing the flopping thing too. He can switch which one is standing up but he cannot seem to get it together. I think he looks cute..... |

| Yes, they can start to droop with teething. I shaved Gracie's ears at least halfway down on both the front and the back. That will take a lot of weight off and they will probably perk back up.

| Yes, Bailey's drooped when teething - and they droop when she's tired. But otherwise - they stand at full attention!

| His ears look like a lot of hair could come off the tips and that would probably resolve your problem. Look around here at the pictures of the other pups and you will get an idea of how much you want to shave off. I only do the top third of the ear. Mine hate the clippers so I have to use the scissors. You'll get the hang of it. Trim 'em up and they will stand up!

| I would just do the top 1/3 as pookiebear said. When you do it shave it into a V shape. We just used regular clippers we had from Walmart, Wahl brand. Make sure you have you fingers on the opposite side of the ear though when your shaving so the ear is flat to avoid nicking. I have heard that some Yorkies ears do not go back up after teething but most do. You can never tell, every baby is different Good luck Last edited by erino77; 06-24-2008 at 07:27 PM. Reason: sp |
