Angry Can't even enjoy summer

AHH I'm soo upset I could cry! During the summer I like to take Rocky and Bella to my parents house so Rocky can go swimming (Bella can't swim) and play with my moms dog. Plus they have a backyard, so they can run around w/o a leash. So anyways, I think I mentioned before on here, but the people behind my parents have 2 huge dogs, and they are ruining summer for us! These dogs would eat Rocky and Bella in one bite, and I'm not exaggerating! There's a fence, but the dogs have busted it before and I wouldn't put it past them to do it again. And of course, Rocky thinks he's 200lbs and he can take any dog, so when these dogs are outside, he tries to go for it.

Yesterday when we were at my parents house, the dogs were outside and Rocky wasn't happy, he kept running to the back of the fence, he even jumped out of the pool that's 4ft high! He goes on his raft, and when his raft goes to the ledge he gets on it then jumps,it's a miracle he didn't land the wrong way and break anything, or fall on his head or back. So now I can't even use the pool as a way to keep Rocky away from the fence. So he runs to the fence, and these dogs are trying to get through the fence. Of course I run back there and grab him, but the neighbors just stand there calling there dogs, um I don't know, but if my dog was trying to bust through a fence I would go and grab him, not just yell "GET OVER HERE"!

Then today, I come to my parents during the afternoon thinking ok maybe these people will be at work and the dogs won't be outside. So before I bring Rocky and Bella outside I check and everythings good. With in 5 minutes though these people let their dogs out and it's the same thing, a struggle just to keep Rocky in the pool (Bella has a little boat she goes on and she just chills, she's not a problem) and of course the whole time were out there these dogs are trying to get through the fence, every now and then the lady comes out and yells "get over here" to her dogs, but doesn't actually come and get them. I wish she would just keep her dogs inside, let them out to potty or whatever, but if their going to be fighting at the fence the whole time why not bring them back inside! So now were at my parents house, INSIDE because I can't take any chances, and the barking was giving me a headache.

It's not like I can really say anything to these poeple either, my parents have had numerous problems with them, and I don't want to cause more trouble out of respect for my parents, and my mom asked me to (gotta listen to my mom) keep my mouth shut.

I wish I could call the cops or something, but it's not like their doing anything illegal, just being inconsiderate. I don't know if I sound selfish right now, yes I can bring Rocky inside to keep him out of trouble, and I do, but it ruins our days when we plan to come here and spend the day outside. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if these people were letting their dogs out on purpose everytime.

Ok, I feel a little bit better now that I vented. Thanks for listening!

There isn't really anything you can do, but I'd be really careful with your little doggies. Are the other two inside a fenced-in yard? You mentioned a fence.

Yeah there's a wood fence, it's 6ft tall I believe, but if these dogs break any of the posts Rocky and Bella would be able to go through the fence. And alls it would take is a split second for that to happen.

Could you nicely ask what time of day would be good for them to bring you dogs over when there's would be inside because your dogs seem to aggrivate theirs and you don't want any problems? That way you are being considerate of them and putting the blame on your dogs, even though it's really their dogs. Just a thought.

I feel for you, I really do You had such a nice set up there and you feel as though it's ruined. It truly is ashame.

I have "kind of" the same problem with the neighbor dog. He's huge, but it seems he's friendly. He's a rottweiler mix and strong as an ox. He has played with our Golden and he wore her out. Daisy (one of our two yorkies) is like you described Rocky, she thinks she's bullet proof!
My husband and I have asked the neighbor repeatedly to please keep "Bud" in his yard because of the little girls.
Well, just this afternoon, I was on my way out the door to take the girls to the park for a walk. I opened the door with one hand and have, Abby, my purse, keys and cellphone in the other. I look and there's Bud at the bottom of the stairs!

Daisy made a b line for him and I panicked! I practically threw Abby and everything else back in the kitchen and pulled the door shut and ran and picked up Daisy. Thank God Daisy didn't try to bite Bud or growl at him, she just sort of stood there in a face off.

I put Daisy in the car and went back in to collect Abby and my things. Bud kept wanting to get to Abby while I was carrying her. I don't think his intention at this point is to hurt them, but I'm afraid he might turn on them in a heartbeat!

I'm going to tell hubby tonight that he has to talk to the neighbor again. (we just talked to him yesterday )

I'm sorry, I don't know what you can do. Do you think you could nicely ask these people to keep the dogs in when you're there? Explain your concern. Kill them with kindness. It's hard to turn a deaf ear on someone when they are being nice.

Good Luck,
Tammy

I am sorry your having such a tough time. I had a similar problem with my old neighbor that had a big dog. He would jump on the fence if you were out there and it seemed like he was going to take the fence down one of the times. We didnt have dogs then or it would have been worse. She finally moved out and I was so glad

That's what I was thinking...put up a chain link fence or something behind it to prevent the boards from breaking through. That kind of thing drives me crazy!!!! You can't have a minute's peace. Good luck.

It's sad when situations like this arise, but what can you do?

I have been thinking about this...maybe you could put in another fence on the inside of this one..so there is a gap in between the two fences? this new fence would then not be continually battered by the larger dogs...some expense to you i know but safer for your babies. Just a thought...

That's too bad. Sounds like a bad situation, bc like you sad, it is illegal just inconsiderate. I would say it is very inconsiderate. It really annoys me when people put their dogs in the yard and then let them to whatever. You still have to control them if they are barking and harassing the neighbors. Your backyard should be a place you go to relax and the fact that these people are ruining it by not watching their dogs is unfair.

Boo, I'm sorry...wish there was something you could do...

I think I'm going to talk to my parents about putting up another fence, or even behind the pool, it'll help protect Rocky and Bella, but there's still the barking, and the stress that Rocky will be putting himself through. I wish I could talk to these people, but I already know it wouldn't go good. These people are very inconsiderate, not only with this situation. They have caused numerous problems with my parents for no reason. Just obnoxious. They aren't neighborly at all.

I'm so sorry for you..

Can all the dogs actually see each other through this fence? maybe if they can't see each other anymore through a 'new' fence then the barking may calm down somewhat? I do think a new fence on the inside of the old one may be the way forward though...I wish you all the best with this..hope your babies stay safe!

It's a wooden fence, I'll try to describe it, it's about 6 feet tall, and there are posts on each side of the horizontal boards, alternating. If you go up to it you can't see the other side, but standing at an angle you can. I was thinking of even plywood because it's solid.

Ivan used to fence fight with a mixed breed where the two corners of our yards meet. The two of them finally decided that it wasn't fun any more and quit but the Adie decided she was going to take this dog on. Sigh. She is screaming at the top of her lungs before I even open the back door anymore. I used to be able to let the dogs out at certain times because I knew this neighbor's schedule but he doesn't stick to that schedule anymore and, like you, I suspect he may be letting his dogs out when he sees mine out. Sigh. We have chain link fences but I'm going to have to put up something that blocks their view now.

I feel for you.
