| A Little Disturbed... Rescue. I always search around petfinder and came across Yorkie Pups in NJ currently with another breed rescue. I don't want to mention specific names. They have them advertised as TEA CUP PUPS. Our Newman will be dead a year this August and although I have the girls it seems quite different without out little boy. For awhile I've been toying with adding another. Since these pups were in NJ I inquired. Originally, I thought that the rescue they were with was the rescue my parents had gotten their Collie from but after I wrote I realized that the name was similiar but it was not the same rescue. With that said, I got an application sent to me and was very taken back by the adoption fee. $745 for a pup and YOU pay for the Neuter. I'm prob. the biggest supporter of rescue but $745 for a pup from rescue that will not even come with a neuter seems ridiculous. And, that is not to mention how they have these pups advertised. I paid $400 for my Lilly and she was 13 weeks and that included her spay and her shots etc. Anyway, I'm just a little disturbed by the whole thing. Elaine |

| Yes, You need to be disturbed by this. Advertising as Teacup, is a red flag. AND for an adoption fee of $745.00 is highly questionable. Looks to me like they really just want to make money and advertise as a rescue group. Is this a puppy? I know that Yorkshire pup are going to be very expensive, especially the pure bred ones. However, I would use a considerable amount of caution with this particular rescue group , it does not sound good one bit.

| Yes, It is a puppy. They are between 8-10 weeks old which is young but a lot of times rescues get them in very young. I advocate rescue and I also volunteer with a rescue here in NJ. On average the adoption fee of a rescue is between $250 - $500 of course the $500 being for the younger and pure bred. MOST if not all will include a spay or neuter with that fee and of course their shots. My Lilly came from rescue at 13 weeks old. She had a pediatric spay done (Which I don't believe in) and all her shots and her fee was $400.00. She was for lack of a better word what one would consider a Tea Cup only this rescue simply said she's be small and therefor could not be placed with small children or big dogs. I'm just really taken back not only by the way the pups were advertised but also with the fee etc. Elaine |

| I don't think the fact that they advertised them as "teacup" is a problem, especially because they are a rescue for another breed and they may not know much about Yorkies. However, the price is DEFINITELY a red flag.. I help run a rescue and I know it doesn't cost US that much to get all of the necessary medical things done.

| I think that is a BIT high.. I know that we have an 11 week old pup for adoption.. Her fee is $275 and that includes spay, vet check, and shots. We also have 2 "designer breeds" well i call them mixes, yorkie/schnauzer, that some apparently did not want anyone and ended up in a kill shelter.. On another note.. we only take cash because i don't want to get any hot checks.
