| Grooming - it's been FOREVER It's been about 5, maybe more, months since we had Lilly professionally groomed. You can also tell this by her appearance, mainly because I suck at cutting dog hair, lmao. Yeah, I messed it up pretty bad, she has a shaved body (which has now grown quite a bit) and her legs are somewhat shaved but really just look like someone took a lawn mower to them but her face and paws are still long, so just imagine. Tomorrow, she has an appointment at 10 with a brand spankin' new groomer for us (the old one was rough with her, I think). Anyway, she was little when we last took her and I'd just take her in her crate and leave it there with her. I've always been afraid of other dogs (she's only been around my grandma's Maltese/Yorkie mix) and I have no idea how she'd react to another dog (pretty sure it wouldn't be a good thing). SO, my question is, how should I take her in? Should I use the crate, her carrier or just carry her in on her harness and leash? Thanks so much, I know you guys will be of great help!

| Well I dropped Koda off this morning w/ a new groomer and I just had his harness on with a short leash. Also his collar cause he had to have his tags on As soon as I got there the groomer took the harness/leash off and gave it back to me so she could look him over. Good luck with your appt. Be sure to post before and after pics |

| Any groomer should have plenty of crates to put waiting and finished pups in.

| I just take mine with their harness and a collar on. My groomers don't use crates; they've got a bank of cubicles that they set the babies in while they're waiting; or they let them play on the floor if it's just all the same sized doggies.

| Thanks guys! I'll def. post before and afters! I haven't put any flea or tick medicine on her yet this summer and thankfully we've been lucky enough for her to not get any. Should I have them put some on her? If so, which do you recommend? One more question and I'll stop. Around how long SHOULD it take? It's like 30 minutes from my house so I'm going to do some errands and get my nails filled in until she's done, I just don't want to have to occupy myself for 3 or 4 hours or anything. I'm sure I'll just have to ask when I drop her off but just wondering an estimate or something.

| Hi! I own a grooming salon, and I always tell my customers to give me at least 2 hours. It may not take that long, but I like to allow myself plenty of time to make sure that they are perfect. I usually take down my client's cell phone # so that I can call if I finish up early! I have crates that I put my dogs in while they are with me. However, I have several clients who have very nervous dogs that bring their own kennels from home. It really seems to help them stay calm to have something that is familiar to them. I hope this helps! |
