| Yorkies for Sale in the Art World! Got your attention! Contemporary artist Jeff Koons is known for shocking people with graphic art...But did you know he also makes dog themed work? One particular piece, Yorkshire Terriers, will be going to the Sotheby's auction block on July 1, 2008 in London at a hefty $1.5 - 2 million bucks! Here is the full story: Dog Artist Extraordinaire | CupOFdog | Dog Site for Dog People

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Thanks for the reminder; I was planning on bidding. This would make a great gift for the Yorkietalk raffle.

| Ohhh, art... I can't explain it, only to say that this particular artist has been making kitschy pop sculptures for over 10 years and they come in extremely limited series...He is one of the most famous living artists. And in spite of the economy - there are actually people willing to spend this on art. In 1997 the same Yorkie sculpture failed to sell at the $600,000 estimate and now look at what its valued! Its an investment like real estate I suppose - but these Yorkies are actually quite cute.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Love Jeff Koons! As soon as I saw the sculpture - I thought "oh, how positively KITSCHY" - and then lo-and-behold you wrote that as well. How funny.

| ehh, knowing Koons he bought some little tzotchky of Yorkies and had his 'art factory' enlarge it into 'sculptures' - no models I have some of his other, much nicer dog art on the link in the initial post. He did a giant 40+ foot Westie made of flowers for a museum and I really like it.
