| Baby Sitting - 2 Baby Ducks! We have been up since 7 am. this morning, my BF. rushed home from work b/c he so-called "Rescued" 2 baby Ducklings that were trying to cross the Highway. He wanted to release them to the nearest Lake or Pond, but they will be eaten by Cranes and other Predators. I've seen it happen while out walking my 3. I have them outside in a "Recycyling Bin", in my Carport. Both of my females Abigail & Pom Pom are going crazy. They are whining & crying non-stop even though they are both sitting on my lap as I am typing this. Otherwise they are standing and staring at the back door. The Duckiling's keep chirping, I have already fed them and given them water, I am waiting for a Friend to pick them up as soon as he gets off work this Evening. He lives in the Country and they already have Ducks & Chickens so they will Live and be taken care of. They are too cute! Artie could care less, he's not even looking at them he does'nt even act like a Dog/Terrier? He's not as "Prey Driven" as the females? |

| how sweet I hope you do manage to take a picture of them. I know what you mean about "prey instincts" Max is always is "La-la" Land, while Toby is more protective

| No more Baby Ducks! I could'nt take it anymore........Abigail whined all day & all night knowing they were out there, they kept chirping, they drove me crazy! My BF ended up working until 5:30 am. this morning and his Friend never came to pick the Baby Duck's up. So this morning I took them to our Neighborhood Lake/Park & Recreation area w/c has plenty of Duck's & Geese. I waited for a Mother Duck with her own Duckling's and I released them into the water hoping she would take them into her brood? She started pecking & biting them (W/c is what I expected) I started screaming for her to STOP and Abigail and Pom Pom ended up jumping in the Lake and started swimming towards them. The 2 little ones managed to get away together and I managed to get Abigail & Pom Pom back to shore to me! Yes, they have snapping Turtles and Alligators as well as gross moss that sticks to their hair in the Lake! You can imagine what they smelled like in 90 degree heat? So I spent the morning bathing them, vacuuming/shampooing my car out and being Heart Broken about putting them back into the wild. I hope they will be OK. and Live/Survive? I know my BF had good itentions but I got stuck taking care of them, I could'nt keep them it's not fair to my Dogs. I could have Trained them but I don't think it's fair to the Duck's either. Sorry no pics. I did'nt have my Camera, there was too much stuff going on. |
