| Back from vacation! Hi all!! I'm back from our 3 week vacation home to Missouri. It was so nice to get away from the heat but now I'm back to it. So Maverick stayed with a friend while we were gone and she took such good care of him. I'm so lucky to have such a great friend. Maverick went to work with her every day and then came home and slept at our house at night. He was never left alone during the day which was awesome. He is completely crate trained and now sleeps in there at night with no problem. I do miss having him sleep in bed with me but I don't want to ruin a good thing you know. He's sleeping on my feet right now and I love it!! Maverick is now 7 months old. How the time flies by. He is such a good dog. So anyways I do have one problem now. Before I left he got along with the cat no problems. Now all he wants to do is chase the cat around and bite him. Do you think it will just take time?? I hope so. SOOOOOO it is really HOT out here in Yuma. I mean we have an excessive heat warning for the next three days b/c it's going to be 114 during the day and only get down to 83 or so at night. That's just plain hot. How can I keep Maverick cool when he goes outside to go pee and poop?? I mean he's not out there long at all....maybe 5 minutes but I still think he gets too hot. I don't know. I'm sure 5 minutes can't harm him. Do you think I should try to pad train him now so he doesn't even have to go outside? I hate having to keep him all couped up but he just can't go outside when it's this hot. He usually loves to go and run around outside. Anyone else live where it gets really hot?? Any advice? I'll post new pics soon too. I just took him to the groomers and got a shorter cut for the summer! |

| Welcome back! I thought that was about the norm for Yuma! I would let him still go out. Isn't there any shade? A few minutes shouldn't hurt him.
