| Hello I'm new to the Yorkie World My husbands boss left town and doesn't know when she'll be retuning, she left her yorkie with us for us to care for her. The day Doo Doo came home my husband said his boss thought she might be pregnant. We don't know how far along she might be, only that she thinks she got pregnant sometime in May. Any ideas on what I need to be looking for or what I should do. And to top things off I asked for a record of her shots only to find out that she's behind on her shots. A Vet told me if she is pregnant they can't give her her shots till after she has her puppies (oh and the boy dog that got her is a Cocker Spaniel way bigger than her) if we do keep her I want to get her fix asap. Thanks, tinker89144 |

| No Not a Joke Like I mentioned in my post the Yorkie comes from ny husband's boss. Her name was or is Cookie but their 3 year old son couldn't say her name and would call her Doo Doo. So till now that's the only name she responds to. No matter how ugly or unfit the name she is still loved and has stolen my heart. I just don't think it's fair or could be confusing for her to start calling her cookie again (she won't listen to any other name than Doo Doo) No not a joke |

| Dogs carry their babies for 63 days on average. Many Yorkies don't show until about 3 weeks before delivery. If she is pregnant, you'll want to limit her jumping around too much but she may not feel as active anyway. If you still have her when she is due (assuming she's pregnant), you would probably want to have the vet to deliver the pups in case there are complications. You'll also want to feed her more as she gets closer to her delivery as the pups do most of their growing the last few weeks. Keep an eye on her and if she starts showing, consult with your vet about assisting with the delivery. They can x-ray her at about 54 days into the pregnancy to see how many pups there are and how big they are to determine if she can most likely deliver the pups or if a c-section is needed. If you have no experience whelping with small dogs, your vet will be your best friend at this time. Good luck with her. |

Do you get to keep the pups (or at least give them to friends/family) since you are the one who will be taking care of her? I hope your husband's boss doesn't think he/she can just let you do all the work and then take Doo Doo and her pups back. I mated once - I had the male - but I was there when the pups were born. It was scary and exciting and Belle had 4 pups. It took quite a long time for the last little one to be born. I would suggest doing a lot of research and talk to your vet. GOOD LUCK. | |

| I wish you much luck and hope that your dog isn't preggy. I'm afraid since the Daddy is bigger, it might cause complications. You're awfully sweet to take on such a big task. I wish you all the luck in the world with her I just saw her pictures on your profile and she's adorable!

| Is it too late to abort them? (I don't know a thing about it.) But with her possibly being bred to such a big dog, I would be afraid it would endanger her life and if they can abort them I would do that to save her.
