| Poll: Where do you take your yorkie? Do you take them to stores? parks? everywhere? I take her with if Im going to be gone for more than an hour since she is still a baby. I carry her in stores that allow dogs to be carried around (anywhere they dont sell people food). I even had to put her in a dog carrying bag when I desparately needed to go to walmart for groceries. (I live in the country and walmart is over 30 minutes away) She doesnt seem to mind. I cant wait till she gets all her shots and I can take her to the parks.

| I take mine with me if I am going out to pick up take out food or starbucks, our malls don't allow dogs, if I am going to a store where I know I wont be long, I'll take him and leave him in the car for a few minutes (only if it is not hot out) He pees in people's houses so I can't take him if I go to someone's house other than my parents.

| I take mine most everywhere. They go on vacations with us. They love car trips. It limits what you can do on the road, but it's worth it to have them with us! They love the park too, although they seem more interested in the people there than other dogs...could be because they don't know they ARE dogs! |

| Unfortunately, the only place I can take my two at is PetSmart and we don't usually do that because Smokey barks at every dog he sees.

| i am kind of afraid to take her out to stores as people make too much of a fuss & because of the attention, I am very afraid of being "confronted" and asked to leave a store.. so embarrassing! I take her around the neighborhood on walks, but what it actually ends up being is a "carry" I also take her to my friends houses if i am visiting for the day, but she gets car sick so i try not to do this often |

| I take Taz most everywhere I go. We go to pickup fast food or my son or daughter in law from work. We have only been in a couple of stores since I got my new carrier. (It looks like a big purse). We have been to Wal-mart twice, but not in the grocery part of the store. We went to the drug store and also Home Depot. In Home Depot we didn't have him concealed by the roll downs and he was very good......until......the checker had to scan something in the cart. She looks up at me and says your purse is growling! LOL. Then he started barking at her. My hubby got all paranoid telling Taz to be quiet or we will get kicked out of here. The checker was laughing, they weren't going to kick us out with a $200.00 purchase!!!

| BuddyBoy goes everywhere! BuddyBoy is my smallest (although lately he's put on 1/2 lb and it really makes a difference after carrying him for an hour) and he loves to go anywhere. I open his bag and he jumps right in. We've gone to the mall, my doctor's office, the park, Petsmart (at least once a week), Target (he hides), to work. I've even snuck(?) him into the movies. |

| So far I have taken Alastor everywhere but work (at the local paper), church and the grocery store. I've contemplated taking him to church, but think that may be pushing it. The mall has a rule that dogs under 12lbs and are contained can go, and most other non-food stores welcome small, contained pups, yeah!

| I have never understood why a concealed dog cannot be in a grocery store or restaurant. In Europe, they are more dog-friendly and allow dogs in restaurants WITHOUT being concealed. I've seen dogs sitting under the tables, beside their owner, and one AT the table. I walked into a store one day in Germany and found a huge dog laying under one of the display tables. Recently we stopped in at a fast food restaurant, and Logan was in my "bag." A girl who works there saw him (first time this has happened) and told us it was OK for him to be there. They didn't mind at all. On the other hand, one day when I was at Wal-Mart in the card department, a worker spotted him and told me dogs weren't allowed because they sell food, although seeing-eye dogs WERE allowed. This makes sense, of course, but a seeing-eye dog is NOT contained and still has the same risk they associate with "pet" dogs. The Wal-Mart worker did not ask me to leave but wanted me to know. At that time, I had no choice but to bring Logan in with me (in his bag, of course) as I was traveling and it was too hot to leave him in the car. I would love to see the laws change in our country. Our biggest food problems in this country come from bacteria-laden foods (now tomatoes) that has nothing to do with a pet in a carrier getting near the food. OK, I'm stepping off my soapbox now Last edited by puppy_Love08; 06-13-2008 at 05:49 AM. |
