How do I report a puppy mill and animal cruelty - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I have been trying to find where to go to report the puppy mill that I rescued Prissy from... Apparently there are no laws here that protect the animals.. In Wilson County where the puppy mill is, their animal control office is so small that they only respond to aggressive dog calls.. Who else can I contact.. The woman breeds horses and Yorkies and now she is trying to get started in Beiwers.....PLEASE HELP ME.. It is in Lebanon, Tennessee.....

Trying to think of how to word this....is she truly a puppy mill? Or a bad breeder? Someone operating a puppy mill usually means they are licensed by the USDA. You can report her to them. Or if you know of any rescue groups there...you could call and ask them for advice.

Do you have a local humane society? Do they check out situations like that in your area?

Call the nashville news stations and talk to an investigative reporter. Ask them if they want some leads in busting puppy mills.

Post the name and address as well. Someone might know them or have a good idea to help expose them.

Well I am not sure, you tell me... She breeds horses and Yorkies and now Beiwers.. She has atleast 50 dogs.. They are all closed into one big deck area and they are litterally killing each other.. They are so matted that when they run, their hair does not move.. Their teeth are rotted.. Prissy had ear mites, her lower jaw had a severe infection, she just delivered a litter of 4 puppies that all died because this lady is not willing to bottle feed. Her medical records show that she had suffered from vometing and diarhea since birth and she was over one yr old. Prissy's mother was litterally mauled to death by the pack..They are all covered in urine and feces as they have never had baths... Her home is not suitable for rats let alone humans....Animal control here said that if there is food and water oh well....there is food, just that it comes out of the trash...I could go on....but I gotta go to the doctor...

Oh I don't doubt the conditions are horrible...but puppymills who sell puppies to pet shops are licensed by the USDA. It would be another venue for you to report her. That being said...are there any laws there that state the number of animals you are allowed to have? Like here...you are only allowed 4 dogs...if you have more than four...you have to get a kennel license. So if someone has a large number of dogs...they could be reported to the city.

What to Do About Animal Cruelty

Animal cruelty and neglect are crimes. If you are aware of animal cruelty or neglect, immediately contact the local police or sheriff, and follow up to make sure that your concerns are taken seriously and that the situation is investigated. Please do not ignore the problem or assume that "someone else will do something about it." Even if you visit an animal shelter and observe cruelty or neglect, don't hesitate to report it.

He is cute...but her site does not look very great...#1: she calls her puppies tea-cups

#2:she has 4 differant breeds of dogs. #3: she only gives a 6 month health guarantee on her puppies.

I hate to say this but since you haven't paid for you puppy in full i would take the $200.00 loss on the deposit, there are a lot of flags on her web site, tea-cup being one of them. The 6 month health guarantee and they don't cover patella, or loose patella as they call it.

Maybe someone on here that lives close, can go to the womans house and inquire about her puppies for you?

There's lot's of red flags, with this site, one is she uses the word teacup yorkies and another is she breeds many different kinds. People always say they want to stop puppy mills, but do they really? Most puppy mills sell over the internet now, instead of petshops. They are going to post cute pictures of puppies not the conditions of the parents. The only way we can truely stop this is if we stop buying from them. Please check out the breeder in person.

Those conditions sound absolutely horrible!!

It actually brought tears to my eyes to read that! There has to be something you can do. 50 dogs??? Poor things. Talk to as many people as you can about it. Ask the police dept about # of dog laws, talk to good shelters and stuff. Even if you have to call a bigger city.

Prissy is such a cute name. It was the name of my grandma's maltese that I grew up with.

Sorry darlin, but you just put your deposit down on a big time puppy mill.. Sparta, TN is a little whole in the wall town with no animal law enforcement and I have been to that kennel.. They are a huge back yard breeder or puppy mill, same difference to me.. They also breed several more breeds than just Yorkies... If I were you, I would get my money back asap!!!

I really hope you can get your money back!!! But most breeders wont refund deposits unless something happens to the puppy in their care!!! I wish you would've found this site sooner!!!
