Rebellion & more rebellion Well, I guess the 'teenage' years have arrived! LOL!! Every time I let Mia out to potty she takes off like lightning to either neighbors yard and "hides" just out of site next to the fence. Or she heads for the street. She will NOT come when called and is again pooping all over the house. When you try to pick her up she runs, barks and growls - all in play, but..... She has had more 'time - out' time in the last week - 10 days than the first three months total that we had her. She is 6 mo now and I still haven't noticed any missing teeth nor any double teeth. She and brandy 'tug' and chew constantly.... could I have missed it? Or is it too early for teeth to come out.

Schatzie was about 6 or 7 months too when I worried about her baby teeth, then all of a sudden i started finding her teeth on the floor...so yes they eventually dropped out. However, her bottom long two teeth (canines) have her baby teeth stuck right next two them. She looks quite funny and I've been told they will eventually pop out or the vet will remove them when she has a surgery scheduled next friday for something else. Regarding the rebellion. All the dogs I've had and teaching the command "come" has been my most diffiuclt feat. Schatzie will NOT come either when outside during one of her escape tricks so I have to have her on a lead until she decides to be a good girl and not run wild. Yorkies are highly intelligant and too smart for their own good, ha ha.... Good luck with yours...

Hi! I don't know anything about the teeth, I think we are just about to experience that here soon. But, the barking, running away and being defiant is something we experience daily! We are set-up for training courses starting in Feb. I can't tell you how much we are ALL looking forward to the classes. Sounds like your baby is telling you who the boss is, and it ain't you! ha ha Have you thought about obedience classes? One thing I think you maybe should consider is having your baby on a some kind of leash or chain for going outside to avoid an accident. Running away is a game to them but it could be dangerous if you don't have some kind of safety back up. Just an idea...good luck with your baby :-) Annie and Tinkie

When they run away, yell, "come" once. If they don't respond, go get them and tell them they are a bad dog, and growl at them like their mother would, and bring them in. Be consitent, and they will soon come when you yell "come"! Honestly!! As to the teeth, they start falling out around six months, so won't be long. The vet said they get double teeth, because the baby ones on the sides usually don't fall out. They pulled Snoodles when she was spayed. They must come out, or else their bite will be off and of course, more plaque can build up faster. Mine had 5 pulled at the time of her spaying!

Well, I know I just asked about teeth falling out, and last night at bed I noticed she was missing one. This morning she's missing all the bottom front. Are the very front tiny teeth the only ones they lose, or do they lose others, too?

Archie's teeth started falling out when he was about 6 or 7 months old, but it all happened so fast. In a matter of weeks, his teeth were gone and new ones grew back. I would guess that Mia is tugging and chewing because it helps her with the teething. It's also a tough time for them...trying to get Archie to eat, etc. during the time he was teething was harder than any other time. It was harder to regulate his eating and thus predict when he had to go to the bathroom...now, he tells me when it's time! I'm not sure if the little ones in the front fall out or not. The thing is, a lot of times when the tooth is too little, they have a tendency to just swallow them so you won't notice when they fall out. Then, just like that, new teeth appear. I taught Archie the "come" command by playing hide-and-seek with him. At first, I was a few feet in front of him and called out and praised him when he came. Then, I'd hide a little and then call out "Come here, Archie!" and when he found me, I'd give him a lot of praise, and sometimes treats. I did this for like 10 minutes at night for about two nights, moving into different rooms and then he got it! The thing is not to overdo it, though, or else it will have a negative association. Just a few minutes during a quiet time is enough, and lots of praise, of course!!

They lose the other teeth also. But, as I stated above the first ones sometimes don't fall out and then they have two sets of teeth in that spot. That's why the vet will pull them when he spays them.

Rudy was a year in Nov. and I thought what have I done wrong with this dog. lol He was a little terrorist, just like Mia, runs like the wind and comes inside to poop right after he has been outside. Don't give up on her, she will grow out of it. Rudy in the last couple of week has turned into a little angel. Which I never thought I would say about him.lol He is 14 month old now. At first I thought he was sick lol, he even leaves Maddie and Lucky alone. Hang in there, I thought I was going to have a little terrorist forever but, he has gotten better, he still has his moments.......Cindy
