| Help please! cats and yorkies? Ok, i have a 14 week old male yorkie and I also have my 9 1/2 year old female cat. He is so fiesty and just wont leave her alone. She is quite the queen of the castle, and doesnt hesitate to bop him now and then. I just wonder if anyone has any tips on training Buff to leave Tigerlilly alone! My poor cat, she is getting older and i want to eliminate as much stress as i can on her. I know Buff is just a puppy and we cant rush this phase but how can i inforce on him that he needs to leave Tigerlilly be? Any advice would be great and i appreciate it!

| I squirt Lily with a water bottle and tell her to leave it. She now knows leave it very well it works as a safety thing to, like if you drop something on the floor you just say leave it and dont have to worry about them eating something they should not.

| The squirt of water is a good idea, but I suspect kitty will put puppy in its place quickly. Just give kitty an escape route and a place up high to get to when the need for an escape arises. I have 4 cats. The dogs pretty much stay on the main level, gated in the living room. The rest of the house belongs to the cats. Except at night, my bed is open to all who can find a place to curl up!

| I have tried using a squirt bottle but the thing with that is everytime i squirt him my cat is close and it scares the heck out of her. I feel bad, i didnt remember how scared she was of it until i did it. My brothers used to chase and squirt her when we were younger... i have had her since i was 10! She has always been my little girl. I hope i can find another way to teach Buff. They are both my little babies and they both get possesive of me! Buffalo is my shadow and Lil is mad lol

YT 2000 Club Member | We had a few issues with Lil Miss Maggy May wanting to play, play, play with Justice (our older cat) and just not wanting to leave her alone. I was constantly going and picking Maggy May up and getting her out of the way of Justices claws. Maggy didn't understand the word "no" at the time and all she seen was a fury friend she wanted to romp around with. Well, for the most part, I would always get to Maggy quick enough to get her to leave Justice alone, BUT, there was a few times I didn't, and from those few times, Justice taught her in her own way that enough was enough. Granted, I didn't like hearing Maggy May yelp when Justice would nab her, but it only took about three times and Maggy learned. She learned to steer clear of Justice and play when Justice gave the ok AND she learned to stop when Justice was done. It's hard for us humans to teach them everything they need to know, I have found that Justice taught Maggy way better than I could have when enough is enough. One thing I do want to point out though, when Justice would be at a higher place than Maggy, say, on the couch, and Maggy would jump up to try to get Justice, I wouldn't let her do that cause I was afraid Justice would claw her eyes. When they were on the same level though, Justice taught her well. Now they get along fabulously! Good luck to you.

| That gives me some hope! With my cat Tigerlilly tho, she is not always very rough with him. She would much rather not use her claws... and he has to push her for her to turn into the mean kitty. She is trying to be a good big sis.

YT 2000 Club Member | Aweee, what a sweetie your kitty sounds like. But trust me, when your yorkie pushes her far enough, she WILL let him or her know when enough is enough. They're just like humans, they're only gonna take so much ;-)
