| Grrr...so mad at the vet! Good morning everyone! This happened over the weekend, but I'm still steaming mad I took Lexi & Oliver in for their second round of shots, and all was well until the vet's assistant took Lexi from me. You wouldn't BELIEVE the way she held her! She took Lexi with one hand and laid her up against her chest with one hand around her neck and the other around her midsection. So Lexi starts squirming and crying because she's not used to that (who holds their Yorkies from the neck anyway??), and when I told the vet assistant that she was uncomfortable, the girl goes: "Oh, its a control thing, we have to hold the dogs like this." Um, I don't THINK so...every time I've gone there, the assistants have been so great. So the vet starts checking Lexi out, and she finally calms down until they tried to look inside her mouth. This bloody assistant tries to PRY Lexi's mouth open while she's shaking and crying, and I swear Lexi was looking at me like "MOM, help me!" So I finally grabbed Lexi from the assistant, held her in my arms, and gently opened her mouth. Same thing happened with Oliver...he's the most relaxed dog ever, but this girl just grabbed him and was so rough with him! Both pups needed to have their nails trimmed, and can I tell you they made the WORST screaming noises I've ever heard At first, the vet was going to take them into the "nail trimming area" but I made them stay in the examining room so I could watch. Good thing, because I watched Lexi pee ALL OVER the assistant! I had to stop myself from saying "That's my girl!!" Both pups's nails started bleeding while they were being trimmed, and they were just going nuts...poor things. I don't know, I think I just needed to vent...and I think I'm going to look for a new vet. This whole episode just has me SO upset...the poor puppies were both shaking when I took them out of there and wouldn't play or anything for a good two hours after we got home. Some people just don't know how to treat small dogs! |

| OMG! What an awful experience! I would never go back there and I would write a letter to the owner explaining why! That is just awful. |

| OMG!!!!! Sounds awful!!!!!!! The way the vet held Lexi isn't necessarily wrong, but the way she did it made it WRONG. I hold my puppies while the vet gives them the shots. I do hold their heads to my chest to hold them still. Is that the vet you always use? If it is, I'd request not to have that person handle my pets ever again. I know accidents happen and you can accidently have a nail bleed, but to have it happen to both dogs shows total carelessness to me. I'd be fuming too! You came to the right spot this morning to have people support your anger! Atleast the lady got her tip by being peed on! |

And yes, I LOVE the fact that Lexi peed all over her What makes it even better is the fact that when she pees, its usually just a tiny bit. But this time, she peed with a vengeance!! | |

| I would definitely write a letter. You could always stay with the vet if you like him or her and just firmly put in the letter that that vet tech is NEVER to touch your babies again. I would ask that the letter be put in your file for future reference. |

| Thats awful, your poor pups ! I think you should call the vet and tell them how upset you were in the way the assistant handled your dogs. Maybe others have complained or will at some point. I'm sure the vet wants feedback from his customers. Maybe the assistants days are numbered.

| That is horrible poor Lexi . I would give you a treat for peeing on that bad assistant ''''good girl """ sounds to me that the assistant may have had a bad day and yes there are ways to hold a dog to restrain them but that sounds a bit much in the way she did it and with a tiny little yorkie probally looked even worse. I also think that if both nails bleed than I would have complaned thats crazy I can see maybe one nail but both that is just being careless and not caring about what you are doin and is unexceptable to me. I would complain to the original vet tech that you use or look for a better one they are out there but hard to find these days.
