| Long legs a sign of large yorkie? I have a yorkie at home with me on a trial basis. He's 4 months old, very thin, and a little straggley. I can get some weight on him, but this dog has very long legs, and I'm wondering if that could be a sign that he's going to be a larger yorkie. Right now he weighs 4 lbs, and doesn't look like he's going to be large. The mother looks like she's about 8 or 9 pounds, and the dad is 4 pounds. I've seen him too. What do you guys think about the long legs?

| My Bella has very long legs for her size, she's pretty skinny even though she eats everything and anything (her new name is vacuum) but she's still pretty tiny. She's about 3lbs, my other yorkie is 6lbs and she's not that much shorter than him. I have heard that the size of the paw can help determine if a puppy is going to be big or not.

| are you worried about her size?? A vet will most likely be right on. they will look at bone structure etc..my vet guessed right 9 times out of ten the future size of a pup upon examination..is the puppy small boned? he or she may not have a cobby body, I have seen small yorkies with long legs..And teapot with short legs.. |

| I think they are supposed to be just as long (from base of neck to base of tail) as they are tall. If that's the case then they are in the right proportion. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I have a stubby legged yorkie ( Teddy 16+ lbs) and Krissy (9+lbs)has very long legs. Mandy's (6+ lbs)are very short and Kayla's (4+lbs) are long. It doesn't make a difference in size. My Chelsey(4+ lbs) has a longer body than the others and her legs are med. in lenght.

| I've had two Yorkies with long legs. Peanut who weighed about 4.5 lbs and Daisy, who weighs just under 9 lbs. Then I have little Abigail who had short little stubby legs She's a chunkaroo at 3.5 lbs, she's 4 months old.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | When Dixie passed and the breeder "replaced " her she said she had a female but she was very leggy and she thought I would want a smaller one but I took Roxie and she is taller then my 5 1/2 lbs but only weighs 4 lbs at 8 months. I really thought for awhile that she would end up at 9 lbs but she has hardly grown in 6 weeks.

| Blaze has long legs. He is taller then Autumn and weighs about 1/2lb less then she does. He is 8 months old and she is 20 months old. He has not gained much weight in the last 2 months either!

| Sometimes they grow into their legs. I mean that they don't look as long after they are through growing.

| Hi, you made me think back to someone I know that actually got a yorkie a little over a year ago. She thought he was very leggy, but when I seen him in person he was actually very well-proportioned. She was used to seeing my Pia and Trixie (didn't have Paisley yet) and they have shorter legs. Heck, Pia has stubs and pretty much no leg at all. She thought this was the way her boy should look but actually her boy was correct. His length and height are the same but I think some don't realize this is correct. Do you have pictures? Maybe this baby is actually the way he should be. Either way, I'm sure he's a cutie.
