| Introductions, Hi Yorkie Lovers!! My Name is Dan. We are are a family of six, that's including our Yorkie. His name is Scruffdoggydog. We love our Yorkie and i can tellby reading some of the blogs, this family does too! I was never a dog lover before. In fact i didn't want a dog. But when i saw scruff i was in love. Even with 2 adults and 3 kids, scruffy never gets enough attention, he just eats it up. I looking forward to learning alot more about yorkies from you guys. I have 1 question, how often should i bath my yorkie. i use to bacth him once a week and a friend said that once a week is too much. Is that true? Can i bath him often at least one a week? |

| Hi Dan, Welcome to YT! This is a great resource of information!! As far as bathing, it's up to you. Lots of people bathe once a week, some every other week, some once a month, etc. So long as your pup's skin isn't getting dry, you should be fine to continue what you're doing. Baths are NOT going to hurt him.

| Welcome to YT. If Scruffy's skin gets dry then you know you need to change shampoos. It also depends on how much your furbaby enjoys rolling around in the muck or how often you groom him. I groom every night but my two senior girls smell in less than a week. My dh says that they are rotten inside. Chipper and my Pommie, Snowboy, don't smell as quickly. Don't know what the diff is.

| Hi and welcome! Hot Rod goes to groomer ever other month and we do him in between. With summer here and being outdoors more, we will probably do 2x between grooms. He had really dry skin so we were told to wait at least 3-4weeks between baths. Now we have medicated shampoo and oatmeal conditioner.

| Welcome Dan . .. your family is almost like mine 16yrs ago ... we were 2 adults 3 children and 1 yorkie named Scruff ... Ruff Tuff Scruff that is . As for the hair ... I bathe mine once a week and supplement them with Omega 3 to help keep the hair soft and it works . My sister has ten of the most beautiful maltese and she swears by oil olive in a spray bottle to keep it well conditioned . Good luck with the new pup ... stay in touch .
