| What is the standard on height and length? I know that AKC has a standard on weight, but is there a standard on their height and length? Stewie seems to have long legs... |

| There are no measurement requirements. Some Yorkies are just leggier than others. Some Yorkies might be 11 or 12 inches at the shoulder and others might be 6 inches. For showing you want your Yorkies to be balanced. Short legs and long bodies are not desirable. Some Yorkies are square but have a cobby body (stocky build) while others have longer legs and a slender build. Both are correct if the balance is there, it is a matter of preference. |

| Thanks, Barbara. That answered a question I posted a while ago in the Breeders Group. I assume you measure from the top of the shoulder bone to the floor, and from the large neck bone to the base of the tail. Is that correct?

| I think that is correct. I really never measure them myself. You can usually tell at a glance if a dog is balanced or not. |
