| I need advice!!!! I need help! I have the most wonderful 8 month old, 3 pound, female Yorkie named Gracie. I am 6 months pregnant with my first child. (I got pregant right after we brought her home!) My husband and I want to make the new addition to our family as easy as possible on Gracie but we are at our wits end! If anyone has any advice or suggestions they would be greatly appreciated!! I guess you could say that I am a nervous mom! I love my Gracie so much and want this to be as easy on her as possible. Thank you!! |

| I agree with browniesmom that shes still young, that should help out... just remember to keep her included with everything too... just as if she where a older sister, she probably will be a little jelous like any one or child would have.. all attention on her then all of a sudden its baby and then she has to share... just keep letting her know that you didnt forget that she is there.... let her get use to baby smell right away, and show her that she too is your baby.... congrats on being pregnat and good luck... |

| Hi Claire! I just wanted to welcome you to Yorkie Talk - congratulations on your Yorkie Baby and on your upcoming arrival! We had a cat when I was pregnant with my son and one thing we were told over and over again was to make sure you never leave your child and any animal alone in a room together, even for a minute. I've followed this rule ever since and my children are now great with animals, but still not allowed to be alone with our dog. Has Gracie ever been around babies before? If not, I would have a friend with a baby start to come over so that Gracie can get used to the sight and sounds that a baby will make. And as someone else said, just make sure that when the baby is napping that you give Gracie a lot of cuddle time - so she knows that she is just as special as ever! Again, congratulations!!
