| Puppy sleeping in the bed. I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on whether or not it is bad for a puppy to sleep in the bed. Roscoe is 13 weeks now and my GF has been bringing him in the bed to sleep. It started at first on the nights i work (because I'm a Firefighter I have to spend some nights at the station). Now it has turned into a nightly thing even when I am home. We have had no incidents in the bed, when he needs to go potty he wakes me up and I take him out. We bought him a pillow bed and we keep it at the end of the bed and he sleeps there contently all night. I have heard all different sides on this debate from friends and family. I just wanted to get the advice from experienced yorkie owners as yourselves.........thanks |

| As long as he is not peeing on the bed I see no problem with it. It would be very difficult for him to have to sleep elsewhere now, after being allowed to do this.

| Congrats on your new puppy and Welcome to YT Not a good idea. With him being so young/potty training /small size .Something is going to happen. peeing on the bed, sleeping on him ,falling of the bed etc..... Put him in a crate or carrier at night beside the bed. Or buy a ex-pen. Please buy a mattress cover for your bed.

| Kash has been sleeping in my bed with my bf and i since i got him at 9 weeks old. he's never had a potty accident in the bed, but in the beginning, he did jump down and pee on the carpet about 2 -3 times before he eventually began sleeping through the night without needing to go potty. he's a smaller yorkie (about 3 lbs at 6 months old), and neither my bf or i has ever rolled over him, and he's never fallen off the bed by accident... i guess it all depends on you, but now that Kash is used to sleeping in the bed, it'd be next to impossible to make him sleep in his x-pen. so, choose wisely young grasshopper.

| Ace has been sleeping with me since he got sick about a week ago. No accidents and he will get restless when he has to potty and I have him pad trained. So, I just put him down and he runs to his pad and then back up he goes. I tried a bed next to mine-no luck for long. I like him sleeping with us though. But all of my skin kids did too. Just one big happy family

| puppy sleeping in bed Kobe just makes sure we're ok, then jumps down and sleeps in his bed. But then in the middle of the night, we are awaken by him crying to get back on. But here's a little question. what do you do when you want to get busy with your significant other and the dog sounds like they're killing him? He will cry, bark, scream.

| The crate is OK-but I am more of a lovey person-and the kisses in the morning are pretty great. We have a down comforter and he curls up in it and doesn't move unless he wants to "fluff" his blankets.

Senior Yorkie Talker | My puppy has been sleeping with me since he came home at 9 weeks, he's 13 weeks now and he is still sleeping with me. He doesn't have accidents on the carpet or the bed ((knock on wood)) but he has accidents in his own bed I have a rubbermaid right next to the bed and when he has to use the bathroom or wants to play for a bit he will paw my face or whine a bit till I wake up. I place him in the rubbermaid and he goes potty and wants back on the bed when he is done, or he just sits in there and plays with his toys. (In the rubbermaid I have one side wee pad and the other side bed and toys, also he doesnt/cant jump out of it) Also he is a tiny guy 2.1lbs and if he senses that I'm moving around alot, he will just move up higher up on my pillow, or move to the bottom of the bed, away from my feet. But I do agree with Gracie2006 It would be very difficult for him to have to sleep elsewhere now, after being allowed to do this. I tried to do that with my guy a couple of times this week and he wasn't have any of that. Once he started going from whining to barking loud, I had to get him up on the bed because I knew my neighbors were going to be mad if they woke up at 2am to his barking. (I live in an apartment)

| Just have to set boundaries, just like with the kids. Get him good and occupied. Give him toys and treats-or just put him on the floor next to the bed with treats and stuff and that's all. We seem to accomplish this often with not alot of fuss-just remember-boundaries. Make it work!!

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Like any other Yorkie owner we had a rough time trying to potty train Max, I always thought he was peeing frequently and could not hold for long periods of time because his bladder was so small. The year we got him, was that summer that we had sooooo many hurricanes, so we decided to keep him on our bed "only for that night"(ha!) Guess what? Not only he has not peed on our bed, but our bed is now his bed.The last one going to bed will take him out, and he holds it until the first person getting up takes him in the morning. We also love the morning kisses

| Our babies sleep w/ us. It was not a decision we made but K&K made themselves, lol! We love having them their w/ us We have never had any problems w/ it. They both sleep all night long and never had any accidents. Just a personal decision I guess Good luck! |

| I think if you want him to sleep with you then let him sleep with you... I had Gracie sleeping with us when we first go her... well about a month ago I decided the best thing for her was to sleep in her bed... because I moved A LOT durring the night and i would move her and I would ALWAYS wake her up while I was moving her... so we would put her in her bed that was just on the floor at the end of our bed... she slept the whole night did that for 2 nights then... she would cry in the middle of the night to come and sleep with us so my hubby would pick her up... little stinker lol no I LOVE IT she cuddles with me and this is the ONLY time she really does... so I dont mind it AT ALL!!! what a good Daddy you are! and what we do when ever we want to have "mommy and daddy time" is we will just put her down off the bed... at first I had the "new mommy" attitude... where I just fussed over Gracie and we NEVER had "mommy and daddy time" ... my poor hubby! but we got over that FAST!!! lol
