| I think with the overpopulation problem the last thing we need to do is clone dogs and cats. Plus just because they are cloned does not mean they will have the same personality. I am sure people will do it though. But the expense is crazy!

| I know all about loving an animal more than anything in life...but I just don't get how cloning one would make it be the same animal you've lost. There's only ONE of them....Even if I could have cloned my parrots Nova and Valentino, who I seriously loved more than life itself (I would have DIED trying to keep them safe); I just know that nothing could ever be the same...it's not just the personal attributes of an animal (unless that's all you're after), but it's the HISTORY and life you've shared with them. Nothing but nothing could replace that for me. I'm really kind of lost about this whole thing and would love to hear the reasons people who are interested in it would do it!

Donating YT Addict | I saw this on GMA the other day. They are cloning people's pets not breeding stock. The are having a lottery that you enter and if they pick you then they will clone your pet...for the fee of course. I agree with NVNVGIRL. There is only 1 Ozzy for me when I lose him, he will be gone and no clone could replace him.

| My personal (not family) childhood pet was a calico cat named Susie. I have always wanted another one because Susie was so pretty. She had the cutest little short nose! I have never seen another calico that was as pretty as her! So If I could have cloned her just for her looks I would have loved that! Pesonality wouldn't matter, I would know it was a different cat but it would look the way I wanted it too. Isn't that one of the ideas behind buying certain breeds of dogs? We buy yorkies because we like the way they look, their size, and general traits? I don't think anyone would be foolish enough to believe that a clone would be exactly like the original in any other way other than looks! That being said, I am against cloning. I don't think it will ever offer a solution to any medical problems. Clones have been known to have weight issues that the originals didn't have. |
