| Joey goes on a trip this weekend and meets other doggies! So my fiance and I are taking Joey on the train with us tonight and going to my parents place in Pennsylvania. My parents have two little dogs - a Chihuahua and a Miniature Pinscher. We can't wait to introduce Joey to them! It's going to be so fun for him to have other dogs to play with for the weekend. Plus, my parents' place has lots of outdoor space, so there will be lots of grass and trees (we don't have these in Manhattan..haha). I think it will be good for him - plus, my fiance and I really need to get away from the city for a few days I am a little worried about taking Joey on the train - it is an hour and a half train ride! I put him in his carrier last night to see how he would react (he has been in it before, but not for awhile) - so, he scratched and scratched trying to get out, but at least he didn't bark. I'm going to bring lots of treats and hope that I can distract him with food! Haha If anyone has any tips on traveling and keeping your Yorkie entertained, let me know. Alicia |

| I have done a lot of traveling with my babies. First, I would definitely recommend getting a crate/carrier fan because of all this heat. I have one and it really helps keep my babies cool. Also bring some nutrical so that he doesn't get dehydrated. I always bring a few bully sticks and greenies, plus some toys. Good luck with you baby and have a great weekend!! I'll be stuck in Brooklyn all weekend!

| Will you have time to exercise him before you leave? Maybe take him for a LONG walk, then he'll be worn out and tired. Have you ever taken him in the car before? When I get Brody in the car, he just lays down - usually. He likes to look out the windows, but I think the motion of the car puts him to sleep. It will probably be the same with a train. I've heard of people on airplanes sneaking their dog into the bathroom - you might try this if he seems too hyper. Let him sniff around for a minute and get it out of his system. Do you have a store around you that sells pizzles or other long lasting chewies? Don't get rawhide because those are bad for dogs (I guess if you watch him, you could catch him before he swallows it). Brody will chew on his pizzle for almost an hour without paying attention to anything else. Maybe if you have something like this, it will keep him occupied. An hour and a half isn't too terribly long - I bet he'll be fine. Good luck!

| Yes, it is about a 15 min walk to the train station from my apt - it is not too hot today, so we are going to walk Joey to the train station to get some of his energy out. Great idea about taking him into the bathroom on the train to let him down on the ground...although sometimes those bathrooms are so gross....hopefully it won't be too bad, and it will allow him some exercise. He loves baby carrots, and it takes him awhile to eat them, so I am going to bring some of those. Thanks for all the great suggestions! |

| About the dirty bathroom floors, you might put a potty pad or newspaper on the floor. I forgot to tell you that part.
