| I wish i knew THEN what i know NOW!!! I wish i knew THEN what i know NOW!! Thinking back about how we got bailey i cant believe how silly i was my partner was off work that week i was not working anyway as i was on a driving course to become a driving instructor. Me and my partner talked about getting a little yorkie so i could walk with him and Leah (my partners golden Lab) And it would be the perfect time before i went into full time work so i could be with the little puppy and potty train him etc. We had talked alot about it and i was so excited about getting one so on the Thursday morning i opened the yellow add's paper (how silly) and seen a yorkie pup for sale £275 an hour from me. I phoned up the breeder and off me and my partner went to have a look. We did not do any research about yorkies just talked about it and we had bought nothing for the puppy as we just went to have a ''look''. The breeders home was a right mess dog poop everywhere and when we went in to see the little puppies she said there was only ONE little boy left so i did not have a pick of the litter. she gave him to me and he was the most lovely little thing i have ever held and i just fell in love with him right away. She told us we could take him there and then if we wanted to as he was old enought to go at 5 weeks old which i NOW know is really to young to be taken away from his mother We had bought nothing for him so we went straight to 'pets at home' and got him LOADS of goodies!! I wish i had taken more time to get to know the breed. i also wish i had been on yorkietalk first and found out as much as i could about yorkies. Do not get me wrong i would not change Bailey one bit but i just wish that i had not been so silly and got him there an then. BUT he is the most loved little boy ever hehehe and i would not change or swap him for the world

| So what kind of things would change your mind about getting a yorkie, if you had to do it over again? The only thing that I regret was not getting a younger puppy. I bought Mac from a pet store because he was already 6 months, he was being transfered from one location to another because he wasn't selling well. So I really felt sorry for him, and I wanted to give him a good home. I did not get to enjoy Mac as a really young puppy, and now I find it a bit more difficult to train him as well. But I love him anyways. He's behaves a lot better than some of my friends yorkies, so I can't really complain. |

| Hi, I thought about this for awhile before I decided to post. I have been looking and reading about yorkies for about 3 years now. I have visited many breeders, good and bad. I have worked with all sorts of animals ( vets clinic) and I truly believe you cannot plan the magic that happens when you find that " special one". I believe with all my heart the yorkie picks you. I have passed up some beautiful pure bred yorkies and really questioned why I did not GO For It! but those pups were meant for someone else. Just like children. We can plan for them but we can't choose who they are or what they end up looking like and we love them unconditionally.. I am still looking or shall I say my yorkie is still looking for me...life is forever changing so planning does not always guarantee happiness and perfection. I know this now.. |

| Tasha- at least you gave the little boy a good home! I got Duke from my neighbor who breeds his Yorkie, and they were good breeders, but I didn't research Yorkies at all when I got him. But it's been 7 years now and I have learned so much. So some of us may not have known as much in the begining but at least we all gave our babies good homes! And we have learned more about them.

| I too made a rash decision. I have always wanted a little dog but I had foster poms and just never found the one for me. I have never been a "puppy" person. I wanted a dog over 6 months just to get out of that puppy stage. I had originally picked out a little male in OH and I sent out my 200.00 deposit. I was reading the newspaper and something told me to go look at these puppies. I went to thier house, they had a TON of dogs. (like 10 so that is alot to me) They were being well taken care of and all were in the house. The showed me pups... no... They brought out 4 seven month old pups.. One had a skin condition, two were just huge, and there she was!!! I fell in love at first sight!!! I put a deposit down on her. She just wasnt happy being with all those dogs. I got her two weeks later and of course forfeited my deposit on the other dog. (I am by no means well of, but I knew I had to have GiGi). I have had her a year and cant imagine being without her.

| Im Guilty too!!!! I had no idea about the evil pet stores and Chewy came from one! I would never do that again even though I feel bad for those dogs soooooo bad! I wish i could steal them all and they could all come live with me!!! I made the decision to get a yorkie in about a week... did a little research on DOGS not yorkies as much... then promised myself id go to 2 or 3 dog stores so i could pick one;..... well OBVIOUSLY in the first store the first puppy that licked me became my best friend. She was also older.. 4 months and the other yorkie they gave me was 2 months. I wanted the 2 month old so i could have more time to bond with it but i knew when I looked into her eyes that she needed to come home with me! I was definately right because my vet said if i hadnt bought her she would have died within weeks from all the conditions she had. so a few thousand dollars and a few months later she was all well and a happy pup. She is the love of my life and i trully adore everything about her but i too wish i would have done some things diferently. You love and you learn. |
