| I think a lab was trying to get Rocky and Bella... So today we were going for a walk, went to the beach (I remembered my camera this time, post pics later) and on the way back home there was a little girl, probably like 9 or 10 walking a black lab with her friends. Theres only one sidewalk, and since Rocky and Bella usually go crazy with other dogs, I turned down another street to take home. When we get infront of our house, we meet up with the lab again, so I cross the street. When we first saw this lab he was whining at Rocky and Bella, it wasn't a friendly "I wanna play whine", but it wasn't a "I'm going to eat you whine either..kinda in between". So anyways, we were like one house away from ours, and this lab starts jumping up and down and barking like he really wants to get them, at this point were at my driveway, so we powerwalked into the garage, I didn't want to run and have the lab get excited. This poor little girl is trying to hold back her dog, and the dog probably weighs atleast 20-30lbs more than her, theres no way she can handle this dog! He starts jumping up and down, and it took her and one of her friends to pull down on the leash and he was still jumping up and down! I'm glad we were already home, if we still had a ways to go who knows what would've happened, but why would this little girls parents allow her to walk a dog that she can't control? When I was her age we had 2 boxers, one was a sweetheart, but the other one was very strong, my mom wouldn't let me walk him because if he started to act up, I couldn't control him. If a dog is strong like that and not well behaved, no kid should be walking that dog! If we didnt' get in our house right away, I'm pretty sure that he would've gotten away from that girl. I just can't understand why her parents would let her walk this dog! If he did get away, what on earth would she have been able to do? Usually all the other dogs in my neighborhood don't even bother other dogs, when Rocky and Bella start barking the little dogs will pay attention, but the bigger ones just keep on going, but now it looks like I'll be investing in some mace. Does anyone know if I can get it at Menards (were going there in a little bit) and is it just regular mace, or is there a special kind for dogs?

I have a 9 year old, 11 year old and a 4 year old. I don't allow either of my older two to walk Zoey by themselves. I am not sure if I am a paranoid wacko or if it's justified but I worry about my kids out and about alone. Lots of wackos and pervs around. I feel bad that little girl is walking the dog. God forbid the dog saw something and wanted to go bonkers trying to get it it...he could drag her into the streets.

| With dog ownership at an all time high in the U.S., guess it would behoove all of us to carry a can of pepper spray with us when we walk our furbabies. There are so many irresponsible owners out there.

I forgot to mention one thing, a couple weeks ago on our walk, a little girl came up to us and was just in awe over how cute Rocky and Bella are, she kept talking to me, she was walking the same way so she walked with us for about a block, and she told me she had a dog, forgot what kind, but a bigger dog breed. I think this is the same girl. If it is, she was a sweet little girl, and I know she would've been devastated as well if her dog got away from her and hurt Rocky or Bella. That's to add on to the reasons that children shouldn't walk dogs they can't control!!
