I've used Gold Bond Medicated Powder for a very long time. Cosmo, my boy Bichon, used to get terrible itchies and he loved being powdered and patted. He got a lot of attention along with the belly bands and he got used to them and even enjoyed all the attention that went with them. I used to have to powder my girl Bichon, Lacy, too, so she wouldn't feel left out. I still powder their tummies and nether regions when they come home from the groomer, just in case there's any close trimming, and they love it.

Take note: Little Bit has an add for her belly bands on her post. I hear they are very well made.

Which do you prefer? The belly bands with or without the elastic? I want to order some & can't decide which way to go..... Also, how many do you recommend purchasing?....would 2 or 3 be enough & do you handwash them or machine wash them?

I use the ones without the elastic, they fit etter and I think the elastic catches thier hair.

I make the ones with elastic, I have been told that the ones without the elastic slips and the private slips out.

With my wee wee wraps, I have never had one of mine slip out, they stay right in place.

I do not think the elastic pulls the hair, I use a trim that the elastic goes between, so this prevents any pulling.

I also can make them waterproof.

I think two or three is fine. You don't have to wash them every day if you use them with a pad, only when they get soiled or stinky. You may want more if you want different ones to go with different outfits.

I have read about belly bands but never tried them. I thought the key was to potty train them. Right. so how do you potty train and have them wear the belly band at the same time. Has any one had luck with doggy littler especially if you live in an apartment?

I think it is just for special times. Like when my puppy is here at the office with me...other dogs have been in here and I know they have peed on the carpet, so then my pup smells it and sometimes I can catch him but other times he's just so fast on the draw... so I would like to get some for him to wear just when he is at the office and can't be watched every second. Other then that, he is trained to go outside but sometimes THE NOSE triggers the leg lift even though he knows he isn't supposed too. Hee!

I haven't tried the litter pan for the dogs but I have heard of others that place a pee pad in the litter pan and that seems to work for their pups.

It's a training tool, like anything else. It helps prevent the accident from happening.
How many times have you said "ohh if I were just 5 minutes sooner he would have not went on the floor"

I try to take mine out every couple hours, but sometimes we just don't make it.
Kibble don't usually piddle in his, he will hold it, but Rocky has been used to breed, so he will mark, so I use the wee wee wraps on him all the time.

Another good use for the wraps are, when you go out in public, even to a pet store, this helps prevent the accident from happening.

I swear by these, I love them and they have come in so handy!

I have a male that is 1 1/2 yo. He was neutered at 1 year. He is potty trained and goes to the door to be taken out. However, during the day I believe that he marks his territory in my little gir'ls room. Why he chooses this spot I do not know? Any suggestions? I have seen and read about the belly band. My question is it for short term use, to be used when you aren't home and how it works? Thanks.

Default Best thing ever made!!

I bought my belly bands from a member here. I have a 14 1/2 yr old that has problems holding it. I put the belly band on him and use poise pads. They work wonderfull. I also have a 3 yr old that has not been fixed and he thinks he has to mark because of my other male. When I put the younger ones on he runs sideways for a couple of minutes then he is ok. My boys are not allowed in the living room with out them. When they are put in the kitchen for the evening then I have a pee pad for them.

It is for whenever you don't want them to mark inside! It is like a diaper. It catches all the urine. When you take him outside to pee you take it off. It protects your home and furniture from those boys that like to mark. You can use it for as long or short a time as you like as long as you change the pad when necessary. I also recommend taking it off at night when they are in their crate.
