| dO YOU use in cage water bowl or out of cage one? I just always thought they should have it in their cage so that they have water at all times. Is that a bad idea? |

| I don't think it is a bad idea. It sounds like it could intefere with potty training though. |

| i keep a water bowl in Kash's x-pen. but he has a pee pad in there, so he uses that. i guess it just depends on what method of potty training you're using.

| If you use a pen & pee pads then I suppose it is fine to have a water bowl in the pen....especially if your pup is in there for long lengths of time. I only use a crate because I have my pup with me most of the time and I do not put water in the crate, one because he is only in there for a short length of time and two because I don't want to add any fluid to his bladder to make the time in the crate more uncomfortable for him. I know that I was told not to put any water or food in the crate when you train them to sleep in the crate at night for the same reasons.

| I have always put one in both. I quit doing it in his travelling crate, after he had to sit on a wet cushion all night when it had spilled over. I felt so bad. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I didn't have water in the crate since Cali was only in it for short periods of time and at night but I got up during the night with her.

If it is for any long length of time, yes he should definitely be left with water. I'm guessing you are leaving him in a pen vs a crate while you are at work???

| I keep water available at all times. I use a pet drinking bottle that attaches to the side of the cage/ex-pen.

| Slade's always had fresh water available in his crate, since he's in there when i'm at work or class. We also have a few water dishes around the house.

YT 2000 Club Member | Maggy May has a bowl in her kennel and out of her kennel, this way she has water at all times. She's 6 months old and has no potty issues at all, she goes on the puppy pad outside her kennel.
