| I should have name him Houdini... At what age did you allow your yorkie(s) to have free roam of the house while you were away? Sebastian is 7 months old and escaped from his pen today. He greeted me at the door as if to say "Hi Mom, look what I did!" Luckily, he didn't get hurt during his 'great escape'! He used his pee pads and everything was in order. I live a block away from school so I come home for lunch. We have just 10 days left until vacation. Do you think I should allow him to roam or do something different with his pen?

I Love Thor Donating Member | Maybe slowly introducing him to the 'big world' (your house) is a good idea. I can't remember what age we let Thor roam the house on his own. I think about a year old. And that was when he learned to jump the baby gate. Harry is still not to be trusted alone! I think you kinda figure it out. When they are not peeing inside, and chewing things up...then they are ready to be all grown up! |

| Mine are 2 and 3 yrs old and we still do not let them roam completely free when we are out of the house. 'The kitchen and family room are gated off from the rest of the house.

| That is about the age when Katy was breaking out. I got so worried that she would not be able to get back to her food and water, we gave her more access to the house. We started with giving her the living room and kitchen. Then added more rooms until we gave all access. She as about 2 when we gave full access. |

| A.J will be 2 years old on Monday, he still doesn't have free access to the house when we're gone. Chances are, he probably never will. There is just too much he could get into and I'd rather not give him the opportunity! I do let him and KaCee free in our bedroom while we're gone.
