| "She's not a teacup" Soooo, I took Madeleine with me to watch my little nephew play baseball this evening. As soon as I get there a man walks up to me and says... "Is that a yorkie or a silkie?" Me: "she's a yorkie" Him: "oh, I wasn't sure because she's pretty big" Me: "well, she's only 5 1/2 pounds...I consider that pretty small" Him: "yeah, I'm just used to seeing teacup yorkies which are much smaller than that" Me: "well, actually there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie, they are all just yorkies that come in different sizes." Him: "oh, well my friend says her yorkie is a teacup." Me: "okay, well I'm gonna sit down and watch my nephew play now" Oy vey!!!

Senior Yorkie Talker | Just wanted to let you know that I know how you feel only, my little guy weighs 2.0lbs even and people always ask me if he is a teacup and I tell them "no cups are for drinking" then when I re-assure them he's not a teacup I get well actualy he does look a bit smaller than a teacup, is he a toy? "toys are for children" Just this afternoon I got asked was he a yorkie, because he is too furry. I had to explain that he still has his puppy coat and he is only ten weeks. ...oy

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Geez I get the "Is she a teacup?" thing ALL THE TIME with Tatum....drives me bonkers I usually just say, "no" and kind of leave it at that instead of going into the whole "teacup" thing because most people have absolutely NO idea what I'm talking about and don't understand when I say that there is "no such thing" as a teacup Takes too long to explain it all, LOL!!

| I get the whole "teacup" "toy" thing with Jake too. And, Jackson is bigger at 6 1/2 lbs., so they ask me if he's "over sized". I feel like a stepford yorkie mom "teacup does not compute.....yorkie standard size is 4-7 lbs., repeat...yorkie standard size is 4-7 lbs." Oy freakin' vey!

| Wonder why people don't get it when you tell them there is no such thing as a teacup or toy Yorkie? Are people really that gullable?

| I actually get asked if Lexie is a silky all the time because she is big, or they'll say, "Isn't she kind of big?" And I just tell them, "Shh, she still thinks she's petite."

| I get that too with Keoki- he is 5-5 1/2 pounds and people say he is big???? Whatever- he is not teeny tiny but he is just perfect for me. Yorkies are great in all sizes!!! And I also think that 5 pounds is pretty tiny |

| You are right, 5 lbs. is tiny! Jackson is 6 1/2 lbs., and he's still a very small dog! People don't get it.

| See I get the opposite on Maverick. They are always like isn't he big for a yorkie. He is just under 8lbs. So yeah he is on the bigger size but he is STILL a small dog. I hate it and it drives me nuts!! |
