| What happened??? Hi everyone, well my question is simple....what happened to Dolce going on the pee pee pads??? She was doing sooooo good and now she is HORRIBLE. I mean there was one wee wee pad in the living room, one in the den and one upstairs (as well as one in her playpen). She ALWAYS went on the pads.....but now she hardly touches the pad in the living room. She goes anywhere and everywhere in the living room (on the hardwood floors)...I dont know what happened to her. Sometimes and that is very little, she will go on the wee wee pad. I dont know what to do anymore because she seems to only do it when no one is looking and the only way we find it is if someone is in there socks and happens to get a surprise!! I need help again because i try and watch her to direct her to the pad, but at 5 1/2 months i wish i didnt have to especially since she knows that she should only go on the wee wee pads. I try placing her there when she wakes up too, but she just looks at me, walks away and then goes whereever.....HELP!!

| I think it's the "teenage" years of rebellion in Yorkies! My Higgins was sooooo good as a baby, then just AWFUL about his potty habits for nearly 6 months. Now, at a year old, he seems to have "grown up" and become a more responsible little guy and goes on the pad or outside nearly 100% of the time.....THANK GOD! It just seems to be that age from 4 months to 11 months that drives us all up the wall........Hang in, keep training, don't be too hard on her, have patience.....she'll get better, I'll bet on it. |

| Mine would do that also, Even right in front of me and look at me as if to say "what you gonna do about that?" I would take her outside, come in, and bingo would pee on the carpet. I never had her trained until she was 9 months old. Now she is really, really good. Except for two weeks ago when she pooped on the top of my couch! Go figure? Good luck! I am so glad I am through with that stage! Ha! Pat |

| Ok, well I am glad that a few of you have at least experienced the same thing. I can totally relate to the fact that she was "soooo good as a baby", because Dolce was, and now she is definitely doing the "whatcha gonna do about it?" look as she pees. I love her to pieces but my anger gets the best of me sometimes when me or another family member step in pee. i dont yell at her because she would have no idea what i was talking about unless i catch her, which is practically never. Do u think she will go back to peeing on the pads even though i only catch her on the rare occasion to yell at her and therefore maybe she doesnt think she is doing anything wrong??? Thank you all for the support, I dont know what i would do without you guys!!!

| Just plop her on the pad and say "Go pee pee, Dolce." Then don't do anything else. She'll get it eventually. Then look at her and say with a smile "It's a good thing you're cute......" LOL |

| Me too... I am having the same problem too now. I was worried that because she is older now she won't go back to the pad. Some of the other posts give hope... Has anyone had problem with their baby starting to eat their poop? If so, how'd you get them to stop? |

| Higgins only did it a couple of times when he was little. If it becomes a problem, there is a pill you can get from the vet to give them which makes their poops taste terrible so they won't eat 'em. |

| I noticed that Archie was doing very well, and once in a while, he'd just go somewhere he's totally not allowed to! I think that he was kinda testing out where he can go so I just keep saying no. Also, I'm not sure if this is a problem with Dolce, but it is with Archie...we have neighbors who have a dog (who by the way Archie married yesterday! We got a certificate and everything. They're jewish so I crocheted him a little yarmulke). The problem is that my neighbors let their dog pee on newspapers. Archie went on their hardwood floors and they didn't tell him no. Well, later on, I took Archie over to my mom's, he went on the part of her living room with hardwood floors. I have wood floors, as well, but mine are polished but my mom's and neighbors' are a darker color. Something, like association with the color or the floor might be telling Dolce it's ok to go there. When first training Archie, he'd go on the wee wee pad AND the bathroom floor which was white and the kitchen floor which was white. Then for a while, he'd go outside in the dirt, and on the brown part of a carpet we had, and a brown corduroy blanket. |

| Ya know guys, it might be the hardwood floor....i mean of course she still misses the pad in my room and the den which are both carpeted, but she is at least NEAR it and just happens to have her little "area" off the pad, but the wood floors are a free for all. However, she never ever goes pee in the kitchen (where she has her breakfast and dinner-so that might be the reason although my kitchen is pretty big and she eats in a 1 foot area!! ) She also never goes in the 2 bathrooms either, which is kinda weird too. I dont get it, the carpets and the hardwood floors she just does her business on all the time, but she ALWAYS gets "number 2" on the wee wee pad....and i mean ALWAYS!! I wish she was that good with peeing too. I hope she gets it together soon because I am getting tired of cleaning up pee every 10 minutes. Shes lucky I think shes adorable....BTW, just peed on my carpet next to the wee wee pad and tried to drown herself in toilet paper...crazy animal!! lol

| Our Toto absolutely will not pee when she is wearing her diaper! Maybe you could just go back to square one ... try the diaper and put her on the pad as soon as you take it off and if she pees on the pad have a celebration!! We still give Toto a treat and "Good Girl" when she uses her pad! She always uses her pad now and if we don't happen to see her go, she lets us know! She sits up and "talks" to us as if to say, "come see what I did"! I know it must be frustrating when they appear to have these little "memory lapses"! Good luck!

| One thing interesting about Higgins: he has a quart-sized bladder! He has always been able to hold his pee for HOURS! Even as a baby. Pogo is good, too, but Higgins is Olympic Class in the bladder department. We take him out last at around 6 at night, then put a pee pad down until morning. Most mornings that pee pad is still dry. And he doesn't go out again in the morning until 8 or 9 am!!! Amazing! Wonderful! He lifts his leg about half the time, and squats about half the time. Usually when he has to do a big pee, he squats like a girl and just peeeeeees and peeeeeeees with this beatific look on his face. LOL We're all nuts. Typing away about our dog's peeing habits. Think it's time to get a life? Why is it that Yorkies are so ENDLESSLY fascinating???? I know.....it's 'cause their just sooooooo cute...... |

| I got my oldest yorkie,Lady,at 7 weeks old.She was wonderful from the start and by 16 weeks old she was going on her pad 100%.I thought I was SO lucky because I had heard about how difficult it is to train this breed. Then I got my second yorkie when Lady was 7 months old and her potty habbits went down the drain She is 14months old now and will NOT use her pads unless we take her to them and sit her there until she pee´s.She will go all over the house She poops at our feet and pee´s in secret corners..its just terrible! Jessie,my youngest yorkie is wonderful with her pads..she is totally trained and no trouble at all. I guess some yorkies just go through stages..in Ladys case, shes not getting over it! lol. |

| Higgin"s Mom,I can't tell you how many times I said, "It's a good thing she is cute". I thought it was neat when you said it. I hate to say this, but I got so frustrated with Snoodles and her piddling and pooping anywhere she wanted to, that one day when she pooped right in front of me, I picked her up, showed it to her (never ruabbed her nose in it--UGH). Yelled in her face and put her outside. I think it scared the living heck out of her because she was trained from that point on. Except for the couch issue a couple of weeks ago. But, I yelled at her --right in her face==and she never did it again. I know, I know, you are not supposed to yell at them. But I was so frustrated what with taking care of my husband with colon and throat cancer that it just happened. BUT It worked~ Last edited by mybirdys2003; 01-20-2005 at 10:17 AM.
