| freak accidents... does anyone have any stories of "freak accidents" with yorkies?? things that normally wouldn't happen but did? i have one that i'd like to share so that people keep an eye on their furbabies a little harder... this happened a couple years back. one of my friends from high school had a 2 year old yorkie girl (cinnamon). she was a tiny yorkie, probably 3 lbs or so... anyway, she was playing with a toy on the couch, and fell off. she landed on her neck, it broke, and she died on impact... there was nothing that could be done to help her afterwards... she was gone, and it was very sad. and the thing is, had she fallen in any other position, she might have survived... she had to fall in just the right way to break her little neck. this is why i call it a "freak accident" because i think kash has fallen a couple times, but never enough to hurt him... not even a peep out of him... he just bounced right back. just thought i'd share.

| Wow! that is weird! I have a big little guy and falls off stuff all the time rough housing. I am guessing though that tiny girl couldn't have jumped up on the couch. I wouldn't leave Brutis some were higher than were he could jump too. She must have been really fragil too. Poor baby!! |

| I always worry about Hot Rod jumping on and off the couch. He's even gotten on the very top of the couch which is a BIG NO NO! He's only 3 lbs.

| When Dusty was about four months old he still lived with his other mommy (now Aunt Melanie) her kids were playing ,and feel on Dusty. He suffered a bad concussion and could not walk or stand up straight for over a month. He finally recovered and has no signs of it today. To be soooo feisty, they are very fragile.

| I have one that happened to someone else. The guy was getting into the car to leave his house and closed the car door on his little yorkie killing her. She was trying to jump into the car to go with him. He didn't know she had followed him out. This story stays in my mind. I'm very, very careful closing car doors. I do hate the stories, they're so heartbreaking.

| Over the years I have heard many tragic stories. One story like the one you told. A 5 month old Yorkie female jumped from the top of the couch, landed wrong and broke her neck. Another small Yorkie was running hard and ran into a coffee table head first and died from a concussion. Another Yorkie had a door that was off the hinges fall on her and kill her. Plus I have heard numerous stories of Yorkies being ran over by cars, drowning in a pool, drowning in a bucket of water or being killed by another dog. It is sad to hear all the tragic stories. |

| Adie's father was scrambling from under the dining room table to get away from a fight between two other dogs just as a 4th dog was jumping down from a chair. The 4th dog landed on top of William (Adie's father) and broke his back. He died before they could get him to the vet. |

| Yorkies are so small they can get hurt easily. One time Jewels juped fro a chair on the patio and landed wrong. She limped for a little while and I feared she had broken her leg. She didnt though. She is not super tiny either since hes 6 lbs

| I have a weird one that has a happy ending but it is about my Crested. I heard him gaging really loud and rushed over and saw a needle in his mouth before he took off I caught him and felt around in his mouth for it. I thought I felt it in his throat so I rushed him to the emergency vet. they looked for it and didn't see anything. [$170 for nothing] So i went home and looked for the needle and never found it. He seemed fine so I didn't worry about it. This happened on a thursday evening. Saturday Zeus had a messy accident I went to clean it up and guess what I found!!! I couldn't believe it!!! It still had thread attached!!! I called the vet and they said he should be fine!! Naughty dog!!! |
