| I want a yorkie something.... Hi, this is my first post. I have a 7 month old labradoodle and I want to eventually (months from now) add a morkie or a yorkie-poo. LOL, notice a pattern? I love mixed breeds! I don't know how y'all feel about "designer dogs" on this forum but I was hoping for some answers. Can yorkies do stairs? Do most of you use puppy pads/puppy litter box or do you potty train outside? How much grooming is required? I know this depends on what mix I get but I was just wondering for yorkies. I know I have more questions but I can't think of them right now. I'd LOVE to be able to rescue one of these breeds from an organization that raids puppy mills, LOL but I don't know if it'll be that easy. I'd like to hear from any of you that have yorkie mixes! |

| It's great that you want to rescue! I'd definitely recommend doing that, if at all possible. Check out Petfinder.com: Adopt a pet and help an animal shelter rescue a puppy or kitten.! They always have TONS of dogs that need rescuing. Also, look into the Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue: Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue Inc. Information As far as your questions go: Can yorkies do stairs? Yes! Franklin runs up our very steep stairs all the time. The only thing is, he can't come down. So we have to gate off the stairs. It probably just depends on how steep your stairs are and how big your dog is. Do most of you use puppy pads/puppy litter box or do you potty train outside? Everybody here is different! Franklin uses potty pads but there are many Yorkies on here that only go outside, or can even go both on potty pads AND outside. How much grooming is required? Yorkies are pretty high maintenance in the grooming department, especially if you want to keep the coat long. They have to be groomed ever 4-6 weeks and definitely need to be brushed with a conditioning spray at least once a day. Welcome to YT and don't hesitate to ask any more questions you have! That's what we're here for!

| IMO you can't beat a full yorkie. They are perfect as is- nothing else required. I agree with Princessdiana on the other questions. I have 3- one uses potty pads in a litter box, one mostly uses my pool deck and the other one goes outside. We like to keep things complicated. I keep all of mine in puppy cuts but they still go to the groomer once a month. Welcome to YT!

| To the grooming question, I'd say once every 2 months is fine. It's expensive though, so if you can, try to do it yourself. I always do it that way and the results turn out pretty good. I don't think anybody can tell. |
