| My new Yorkie Hello all, i received my new furbaby safe and sound last nite and im very pleased, to be so small she seems to be very energetic and she slept well last nite. Shes eating well and i have the nutri cal which i gave her when she arrived. We have decided to name her Paris, since already she seems to be sort of a diva. I will be taking her to the vet on Tuesday to have her throughly checked out. I wanted to know at what age is it safe to give a yorkie a bath, she is 12 weeks and if its to soon to put her in water is there a dry wash or spay recommended, since she is still young i dont want to chance buying something that may be toxic for her. Thanks to all and this site is AWESOME!!! |

| Hi there! Congrats on your new baby! Hope you'll post pics of her here; she sounds darling! And yes, they're just a bundle of energy; in a good way. I'm not sure about bathing them; I got Max when he was 11 wks old, and I know he'd been groomed at least once before I got him, so I would think Paris is old enough now. I know lots of people like a shampoo called Cranberry Fields, and some people sell it here too. Welcome and I think Paris is a really cute name!

| Congratulations on you new baby. I would think that is okay to bathe her. Just be careful that she does not get freaked out by the water.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Awwwww what an adorable tiny baby. You can bathe her now if you'd like. I used human baby shampoo on mine at that age.

YT Addict | I just bathed my baby yesterday and he is 11wks old. He did fine. I will only use puppy shampoo, it is tearless and made for puppies. Human shampoo doesn't have the same Ph as dog shampoo. You shouldn't use human shampoo or cat shampoo on dogs. Don't get water in his ears! He could get an infection. Also, don't freak out when he runs around rubbing himself on the carpet, that is normal! |

| bathing Thanks for all the info so far, is it recommended to put cotton in her ears while bathing? I will give her a bath in a couple of days, i dont want to stress her out since shes is still getting familiar in her new environment. I am so surprised with her energy shes has adapted so well in less than 24 hours so far. She weighs just over a pound and i am keeping a close eye on her to makes between romps she gets her rest. |

| Paris welcome! So glad you got her now. Every diva needs a bath and a beauty spa! I highly recommend Cloud Star products - the Buddy Wash is wonderful and the Buddy Splash is a lifesaver for when you need to brush your yorkie - you never want to brush a dry coat. These products are filled with natural herbs and oils. Someone on YT is carrying it on their website. Also, I think Petco started carrying it in mid 2007. Here's the company website so you can see what I'm talking about www.cloudstar.com -- my dogs love their treats too!! Also, I would recommend investing in a good brush when you can do that. I love the Chris Christensen 20 mm gold series brush. A bit pricy but worth every penny, so much easier to brush my silky coat. Also, I thought you might like to read this - I had posted it in a thread several months ago http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ampoo-etc.html
