| Newbie with a WWYD question. Ok, first I will confess that I have been lurking here for awhile. Our 15 year old Yorkie, Babe, passed last October. We miss him so much and decided a couple of months ago to get a new little guy. We found a local breeder and went to meet her and see her dogs. She was very nice, her dogs look good ect. There were three males we were looking at...but we did not want to make a quick decision, so we left, with the agreement that my DH and I would be back in a couple of days to let her know which one we wanted and to leave a deposit. When we went back, we told her that we would like the littlest male, and she was very surprised. She later told me that she had thought if she could not get what she wanted out of him she would keep him. We left the deposit, and went back a couple of times to visit him. She told us that we could come to see him every week, but I did not want to intrude so I waited a little over a week before I contacted her again to come visit. That was a week ago. I have emailed, I have called twice (once leaving a message, and once without), and my DH has called and left a message. She has not called back. Now, she could could be on vacation, or there may be something more important that a dog going on in their life...so I am trying not to panic. But I am afraid she is going to back out of selling us this dog. My girls are so excited about this little guy...they are attached, and planning for his arrival in a week or so...they are expecting a puppy! I have contacted a breeder here at YT for a "back up" plan if the worst happens. But a. we are invested emotionally with this one...and b. I don't want to back door this breeder here. SO...after all of that...what would you do? I see no point in calling or emailing again yet, she has two phone messages and an email from us already. I have thought about stopping by her house...but it seems "stalkerish"...and if there are other things going on which has nothing to do with this dog, I don't want to add to that KWIM? But how long would you let it go...and what would you do? Thank You, Tammie in CA PS...I have not set up a "fancy" profile yet, because I had planned on waiting until I got "Beckham" before I joined in the fun |

Donating YT Addict | Welcome Tammi! I would definately call again and do another follow up email. If you don't hear back in a few days I would drop by her house. If she has your deposit she has a responsibility to keep you informed about your Baby. I think she would understand your excitement at getting Beckham and your concerns about preapring for the homecoming. Again Welcome to YT. Let us know how it goes and post lots of pictures when little Beckham does come home

| Since you have already left a deposit, and she has agreed to sell you this pup, I think you have every right to make another follow-up call and email. She did say you could come and visit him, so if you don't hear back from her, you might want to drop by there. I hope that you are able to reach her, how worrying. It's possible she had some sort of emergency, I hope everything is okay.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | My first thought since she offered to you weekly visits...she intends to sell you "Beckham". If there is some circumstance that's come up...I really think she must realize you expect to come over for a visit and would contact you. I don't know what to suggest....knowing myself...I would probably resort to stalking.

| I'm a law student, and although I'm not sure if this is correct, I believe your down payment means she can't revoke the offer for a limited amount of time at least. Either that or you have a binding contract. |

YT 2000 Club Member | welcome to YT. I think that you have the right to know what is going on, so I see nothing wrong with you calling again, maybe block out your name/ number so it comes up privet?? Maybe she will answer the phone then. If she is going to back out of the sale, she needs to return your deposit! I also see nothing wrong with taking a visit over to her house. You have a right to know what is going on! I hope things work out and you are able to get your puppy!! Keep us posted on any developments getting in contact with the breeder!

| Welcome.. I'm also a Central Coaster. I'm up in North SLO county . Is the breeder in Lompoc? I had the hardest time finding anyone around here when we were looking for a yorkie puppy! So, its been 2 weeks? You definitely have a right to know whats up, and don't feel bad for your calls and emails. If you have already placed your deposit, the breeder should make herself available and at least return a phone call or email within a decent amount of time. I waited over 2 months to bring Mia home... the poor breeder (a YT member) was probably SO sick of my emails. I emailed her constantly with questions, etc., and when i didn't hear back from her right away I'd start to feel discouraged.... but everything was always fine.

| Thank You All... Thank you all for the kind replies! I will call her again tonight, and if I don't hear anything, I will stop by her house next time I am in town. I really hope that nothing is wrong, and that she is just on vacation or something. I thought that I would post a couple of pictures. The first one is of our first yorkie, Babe. My Dh bought him for me for our first Christmas together, and it was total love! He was my baby...even after I had real ones The next two are of Beckham (Becks). The first is what he looked like when we first picked him out, and the second is from a couple of weeks ago. I am dying to see how he has grown! |

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | Welcome Tammi to YT! I would give it a couple days and if you do not hear back from her, then I would go over and see what is going on. You have every right to know, you have invested time and money into this puppy and you deserve some answers. p.s. you could also have someone else try calling her or emailing her, inquiring about a puppy... Keep us informed.... Last edited by yougetthesmiles; 04-29-2008 at 03:09 PM. |
