Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm so sorry you lost your 2 yorkies - and I agree - a playmate is a good idea...she may be jealous in the beginning but once she learns it's FUN to have someone to race around with I bet she takes to the new puppy - if you get one.... Welcome to the site |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Awww welcome to YT. Love to see pics of your babies. My condolences on your loss of your two babies. Well I think it would be a nice idea if you have the time to train a new pup to get another. company is always welcome. Yorkies are such social little people that she would probably welcome a buddy. Good luck in you decision.

| Welcome to YT! I'm so sorry that you lost your two babies. Wow, 14 years! I'm sure they knew how very loved they were. As for getting another one....if Kati seems lonely then yeah, I'd get another one. How old is she? If she is older a puppy might be too much for her.

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | Welcome to YT! Sorry to hear about the loss of your babies. I too lost a yorkie to kidney failure. It was a long battle, and we were giving dialysis ourselves twice a week, so I know where you're coming from. I think it would be fine to get yourself another baby to love.

| ditto what everyone is saying!!! Im sooooooooooooo sorry for you loss... but I really think kati would LOVE having a little puppy to play with! I would take her with you to pick out the new puppy so that way you can kind of see how she reacts to them...?? good luck and WELCOME!!!

| Welcome to YT!! What love you have for your babies. I lost my Misha, a female Bichon to kidney failure at 14, I know how difficult it is. How old is Kati? I would probably base the decision partially off getting another one on how old she is, how well she gets along with other dogs. Would you get a puppy or perhaps adopt an older yorkie?

| Welcome to YT! I understand where people are coming from when they say a puppy might be too much for her if she's old... but it may not be either. My parents had a standard poodle and a toy poodle. The standard poodle, Dexter, died when Mandie (the toy) was about 14yrs old. She went crazy with loneliness. My parents were also nervous about a puppy being too much for her, but they got a puppy anyway thinking that she would prefer it in the end. They were right. They got their first yorkie and Mandie is doing soo much better (she's almost 16yrs old). Beast (the yorkie) is so good to her too. He knows she's old and actually takes care of her. She was going blind when they got him and he has learned to guide her in the back yard. If Mandie is outside wandering around, my mom tells Beast to "Go get your sister" and he does! It's so cute! I think having Beast has actually given Mandie a few more years to live. She's 16yrs old, blind, and deaf... yet, happy. Last edited by Epsilon; 04-29-2008 at 09:36 PM. Reason: grammar fix |
