| I need some help...ideas please (long) I hate to even admit this or be in the position that I need to. I just need some ideas of what I can do to help my Madison. As you may or may not know, Madison was found starving in the desert. I took him and tried to find his owners. This was on the 20th of March. He was very thin and wolfed down his food and put on a fair amount of weight. After he was here for ...I can't recall now...maybe a week or more, he started having gastro-intestinal issues. I knew his poops hadn't been nice, like Max's but I assumed it was b/c he'd been eating only God knows what and it would get better the longer he was eating decent food regularly. The shelter pointed out to me that he had probably been used as, or planned to be used as a stud at a puppy mill and he either got out after a female in heat or somebody just abandoned him. Which is probably why I never found any owners. My dh was extremely upset with me for taking Madison in, but I just couldn't turn my back and of course, looking back, I should have known better, but I honestly thought I'd find his owners. One reason he didn't want him is b/c we can't afford vet bills, which I knew, but I was hoping the money I have been getting for work would be used for that, so he wouldn't have to know. I work for very little money, which wasnt' my plan, but that's kind of how it's working out and I've been making really cute belly bands, thinking I could sell them somewhere in the future to help out with Madison's vet stuff.....he still needs his shots, which I was wanting to make sure he had at least a completely good week as far as his belly went so if he got sick, I'd know if it was from the shots or not. So far, there's been one thing or another occur before we got a good week down. I was planning on taking him to the low cost animal clinic here which is very good. I also got a voucher to help with the major part of his neutering, but of course, he needs his shots first before they'll do that, and I can't have it done til he's feeling better. So...the bottom line is this: I signed up for a Paypal account b/c that's the easiest way for my boss who lives in another state, to pay me. Come to find out, to get access to your money, you have to have a bank account, which I don't have and I need the money in the Paypal to even open one up. It's like a vicious circle. My dh will not (does not have the money for) pay for me to take Madison to the vet. Last week he was doing great; I was feeding him a bland diet, everything was perfect until Monday morning when I got up to several poops in the house and they progressively got looser and looser. I gave him some Pepto Bismol and he refused to eat all day. Other than not eating, he was pretty much normal...running around playing with Max when Max would run around, and come evening mealtime, he wolfed down all his rice/turkey and then promptly threw it up. I was sure that it was b/c he'd eaten too fast. Later on, he was interested in eating, so I gave him a very small amount of his food and he kept it down....the next morning his poops were better and he was back to his old self. He was FINE until this morning at 3 am ....he wanted to go out and when I picked him up, I could hear the ominous sound of his belly rumbling....I knew whatever has been bugging him was starting again. He ran outside, don't know what he did b/c it was dark, and I picked him up, brought him in , thought maybe he had an irritable stomach b/c he hadn't eaten anything for awhile, so I offered him a little rice and turkey. He didn't want it so then I knew he wasn't feeling good. I gave him Pepto Bismol and we went back to bed although I couldn't sleep. He has been having very small mucusy type stools since today.....he vomited once just a tiny bit about an hour or two ago and I gave him some more Pepto. I had been reading and was thinking maybe he has some sort of worms, so I was getting ready to go to Petsmart to get some SafeGuard to try if he is eating this evening (before he's always not eaten all day and then at night, he will eat and is fine after that). Anyway, after the Pepto (about 10 min), he drank some water...not a lot, just some. About 15-20 min. later, he vomited quite a bit (it looked mostly like Pepto Bismol and water with a little yellowish/brownish in it). That was an hour almost 2 hours ago and he's sleeping under the desk right now. He still jumps up and runs outside if Max does, but it's obvious that he needs to be seen by a vet. This is the weekend. I wanted to take him this morning but my dh said we don't have any money. And he says he doesn't want me using the money in my Paypal that I can't get to anyhow for this, however, that's EXACTLY what I have been working for to begin with. I just want to know if anyone knows how I can access my Paypal money without having a bank account or credit. My dh of course, has one but if I use his account, then he'll have to know, and he's being terrible about it right now. I don't have much, but I'm hoping that I can just give it to my vet and make payments somehow for however much more it will be. I'm desperate. I love this little guy more than I can even tell you. I have been trying my hardest to get him healthy with no help from my dh and now I just don't know what to do. I hate having to air my dirty laundry here, or anywhere, but I'm so afraid he's going to die or be so sick before my dh realizes that he's not going to "just get well" that it will be too late. I KNOW what I SHOULD do, but I can't right now, and my dh I don't think really cares how I feel. Please, please, don't flame me or make me feel any worse about myself and this situation, I would rather die than Madison die. He is so dear. And he loves me and trusts me so much, I don't understand why though. I just am trying to figure a way to get him help. I know people here have good ideas and have been thru either themselves being in such a hopeless situation, or knowing other people who have been. I don't know much about bank accounts and had no idea what Paypal was all about so it sounded like a good deal to me.....not turning out that way. I just don't know what to do. I know I'll probably regret putting this all out on the table, and I hope nobody will think less of me for it. I do love both Max and Madison more than anything in the world. I just need either a good slap in the head and/or somebody to tell me WHAT to do.

| I'm so sorry that you are in such difficulties. We have a Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals for people who have a low income. All they ask for is a donation. This doesn't help you though. I don't know what dh means, but would some of you friends or workmates not help, with it being such a good cause. It would be for Madison, who you are trying to help. Maybe if they knew what a good thing you have done, they'd only be too glad to help too. I'm sorry I've not been much help, I really feel for you. Maybe you can ask the people who run this forum, how you can get around the Paypal question. I see they accept donations via Paypal. |

It's crazy, I know...I allowed myself to get into this weird financial "arrangement" and now I'm kind of stuck. Do you know a particular bank that you're talking about? I apologize; I'm kind of freaking out right now, b/c come Monday, I can go to the bank in person and discuss it with them instead of doing stuff online. I've just been watching Madison so closely all day I didnt' think about putting this all together and in writing so I could sort it out til now. And I guess I might be overreacting a bit b/c I'm so afraid Madison can't wait that long. And I will talk to one of my good friends, or two of them. I guess I'm afraid to go into a vet not having any idea of what is really wrong or how much it will cost (someone else, even if I am paying them back)....it's like, how do you tell someone you need help and not know the extent of it or go into the vet's not having the money available? Does that make sense?

| Just WOW. My heart really goes out to you. Your post is so heartbreaking. I can tell you've really put a lot of heart into this & I can't imagine how torn up you must be over having to try to hide this from your DH....... Listen, you don't need a bank account -- you can get what's called a Paypal debit card to pull your money out. A lot of ebay sellers use these to pull out money. I'm not sure if that helps at all & I don't know the terms involved. Here's a link anyway, so maybe that will help. I wish you the best of luck. ((Hugs))

The girl who wanted to pay me that way had signed up for it when apparently you didn't need to do that, and she didn't realize that. She told me she'd never linked hers to any bank account. But I did CALL them and spoke to a lady. So, I have to use my husband's account if I don't have my own. I'm just praying right now that Madison can hang in there til Monday when I can get to the bank and hopefully set up an account...it would be better if the money could just be transferred from PP to it instead of them sending me a check. UGH. Please, I would really appreciate any prayers you all can spare; not for me, for Madison. I truly appreciate these suggestions, and thank you so much for understanding about my dh.....it's very stressful to me and it helps to at least have someone be kind. Thank you

You're so sweet, thank you! I think I tried this and they told me it had to be linked to either a credit card or a bank account to get, but I'll go check again. That's really exactly what I wanted and that's what the girl who I work for told me that she'd done. Thank you for the link; I'll check it again. Maybe I checked it before I was actually eligible for the debit card? I just can't lose Madison, I just can't. I wish everybody could know him b/c even though I adore my Max, I guess it's just the fact that he's been thru so much awfulness, yet, he's such a happy and loving little guy. Just more fragile than I would have hoped for, but you never get to choose who you fall in love with.

| You're right. I see the terms now. I didn't realize you had to give away your first born child to access your money in Paypal! That's just ridiculous! Next question, you're able to SEND money, right? I wonder if you could talk with a Vet & see if there would be a way for you to Paypal him? Maybe if you explain your situation, just as you did here, he would be willing to work with you? Nowadays, it seems like just about everyone has a Paypal Account. Maybe he (or she?) does too? If nothing else, maybe s/he will work out some sort of payment plan for you. Surely once he sees her cute little face, he won't be able to deny her. I really hope everything works out for you & little Madison. You'll both be in my thoughts.

| Im so sorry your in this situation. Call monday morning and try some different banks. $100 is a large minimum to open a basic account. I think washington mutual is lower if you have those. Also you can apply for credit for vet services at carecredit.com and they will just about approve anyone. I know alot of people that have used care credit and are happy with them and they usually give you a year interest free. Also I have a friend whose dog was very sick and she went to a craft store and bought organic paint and made these little paintings using muslin cloth wrapped around a solid backing then stapled tight. She painted them a solid color then took the dogs paw and made a single little dog footprint. She post these on craigslist, ebay, local grocery, vet clinic and anywhere they would let her put a flyer with the dogs story. The cost of the print was up to the buyer/donator. I thought this was so sweet and creative but I didnt think it would help her much. Wrong I was she raised $14,000 in 3 months. Its definatly not a fast solution for the money. But maybe you could get the credit and then try to recoup it later with something like this. Alot of people are willing to help (especially for you its such a sweet story) and getting a small painting or something is all some need to encourage a donation. For some people it shows your not just asking for a hand out. Good luck. Things will work out somehow. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Well, you could also try - in the meantime - getting him off of poultry and rice. Instead, get him on whitefish, potatoes, and green beans. It's a diet that is often a miracle for dogs in any sort of trouble, but especially digestive trouble. Let me know if you want to go that route. It is a diet developed by an animal nutritionist and used w/ great success by several YT members - most recently if you read Laurenr's thread about Mango... It may be worth a try to help him, but yeah - def. sounds like he needs to see a vet. I so wish I had advice about the paypal thing...

| I think it's a good idea to talk to the vet too. I can't imagine any vet refusing to help a sick little baby. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I feel so bad for you. You did a great thing by taking him in and now you are having problems. I have a Pom with chronic colitis, her tummy makes noises and she had bloody, mucosy poops. The vet gave me mes to give her whern she has an epsidoe and they are really inexpensive, and really work great. I would explain to your vet that money is tight and you want to help your baby but expensive testing is not an option and maybe they can try a conservative approach and try some meds to get his tummy issues under control. Good luck.
